First off my current modifications:
2g Exhaust manifold
3" turboback exhaust

Mods buying at the same time:
Dejon Tools SMIC kit (intercooler, uicp, licp)

1. This turbo is a direct bolt in for my 1990 GSX right?
2. If I get it ported with a larger wastegate flapper, am I still going to be screwed when it comes to boost creep due to this exhaust?
3. Anything anybody can suggest before I buy it?

You shouldn't have to worry about boost creep if you port the turbo inlet and smooth the edge leading to the wastegate. I wouldn't even worry about a bigger flapper. But like everyone is saying, you can easily achieve 250 with a 14b and the right supporting mods.

WOW man there is a lot of misinformation on here 16g's spool faster than a 14b?? Run 20 psi on stock fuel system. Ok 1 most on you have told him the right things but a 16g will not spool faster than a 14b.2 If you run a 16g at 20 psi you will need a new motor. I blew mine on a 14 at 16 psi car leaned out and boom!! Cyl 4 went bye bye.. By a new or remaned 14b get a fuel pump adn call it a day. No need for the 16g unless you are going to tune it and run 20+ psi. I have seen reman 14b's on any site you can get a 16g. If you have you heart set on a 16g( You should not casue of what kinda power you want 250hp) Then get the fuel upgrades. Injectors and pump.

why didnt your car hit fuel cut before it blew up?

I hope you mean that if you run a 16g at "20psi" with a stock fuel system that you will detonate enough to blow an engine. But even then, likely the head will lift and only the head gasket will go from my experience. It's bad to do this but these engines are very tough.

If you think that boosting at 16g to "20 psi" with proper injectors and a better fuel pump will blow a motor, then I have a dsmlink log showing 22psi and 36lbs/min with a small 16g.

It's entirely possible if he was running a stock fuel system, that fuel cut itself lead to the damaging detonation. Fuel cut causes the combustion chambers to run very lean very sudden. It's the last ditch effort by the ecu to stop runaway boost. 'Ignition cut' would have been a better idea.

To the OP: If you insist in get a 16g you should get at least a 190lph pump re-wired,550cc injectors and a MAF-T set up to compensate for the injectors , better safe than sorry; on the other hand why not rebuild your 14b, it would be cheaper and it can do the power you are looking for, just get a 190lph pump and call it a day.

I will probably do the fuel mods one by one honestly because I'm trying to get my other project on the road. I've already gone ahead with an Evo III 16g and I'm currently discussing an external wastegate setup with a vendor. I figure if I run an external wastegate on the 16g and hog the crap out of that housing (little overkill in my book, but whatever), and run it at 9psi, that should be more then anybodies definition of safe.

Call me crazy if you want, but I really don't want this car to blow unless I have something else to drive. I'll probably increase the boost later, but I should be fine for now.

Also, people, 250 isn't a goal, it's a ceiling.

See my stats 75% IDC at 9 psi. Its safe. Just rewire the fp.

Hah, you're from Des Moines? You ever go out racing or anything?

You guys are hardcore about this rewire. It'll probably be one of the first things I do when I get a little more free time here in a week or two.

Got everything installed, running the stock intercooler on the 16g with full 3 inch exhaust, new O2 housing should be coming in soon but right now the thing is running PERFECT. As it sits, all is well. Boosting 9psi, not experiencing a lick of boost creep or spike, knock count is lower then ever, pulse width is obviously amazing. Life is sweet as I sit here and type this.
