Hi all looking to see if anyone knows if this timing kit is worth even putting on i was going to go with a blue gates but im getting told they are not anybetter than a stock one... which is contraversial to what i have heard anyway i know to use a gmb waterpump and im replacing the timing belt tensioner as mine is junk and rattles and the belt flaps i got this car as a trade with a bad headgasket put in a permatorqe felpro gasket and arp studs cleaned everything up, now im on to the timing belt Any info is appretiated! heres the link for the kit i was looking at buying.
90-94 Eagle Talon 2.0 4G63/T Timing Belt Water Pump Kit - eBay (item 260479163470 end time Aug-09-11 15:18:46 PDT)

my car needs a new tensioner it makes a rattling noise the car was sitting for god knows how long with out being driven, i had to manualy pull up and down on the headlight to free them up and clean out the tank.

(Stay away from Auto"CRAP"zone..and heaven help those if that's the ONLY parts house in town...) Me, I went to the Mitsu dealer to get my complete kit...and that was close to 300 bucks....but not sorry for going this route...

It's just the risk going cheaper routes... Just don't spend tonnage on a water pump ..."geez, 155 bucks for one from that one site......"

(ya, I was picking on you, but no offense intended - just some of us can't read too well ...LOL)

EDIT: ( I wonder about O'Reilly's also ... true, they used to be Schucks/Checker/Kragen stores....) I'd rather go with GMB pumps more than anything .... DAYCO belts are good too - them and GATES are pretty well known belt manufacturers here in the States ... and ADVANCE Auto is good as well ...

Good luck-DSM

I think im going with the dayco. Its cheap and has all the parts i need except the tensioner and pump and a new GMB pump is like 35 dollars. Thanks alot guys.

This is why DSM Vendors leave the game.

You might as well sell the car and buy a Honda or Mustang... Unless you don't care to keep fixing things on your car.

Yep cheap on somethings then your doing again real soon saying a few bucks more, i never cheap on this dsm ive had everything break on it sometime. To each his own.

LOL im not planning on leaving this belt on here for years i just was curious about other options to keep the price down because i dont live with my parents and i have real bills and am trying to get this car going at the same time. thansk for the thought tho.

We all dont want to spend more than we have to some parts cheap and some not but the vendors have a great selection of parts and most are around the same price, hell i have real bills also. I just hate doing things over and over, because i have. With the engine, but everyones budgets are different, and how they spend their money. Well you got some good options.

Lol i would love to go with the gates or hks not only for the color but suposivly they are kevlar and alot stronger, altho i have heard someone say that the stock belt is good for some ridiculous amont, i just know i need a new belt because mines cracked along the edges and im not looking for any major problems so even a dayco or black gates belt is way better than what i have.

I also don't live with my parents. I go to college and have a full time job and doing my own build on the side. Go cheap, it won't last at all. Your choice. Good luck with it.

dsmgraveyard has a decent kit for around 230$. i personally heard the oem belts are made by gates, as far as ebay, i wouldn't buy anything from there.

Thanks for the info. Ill look at it.

I just got my gates kit off rockauto. Also get the gates waterpump ($37) as it's actually a GMB (just made by gates) which is a good pump. Total was under $100 for a full gates belt kit (with pulleys) and pump.

I wouldn't buy from dsmgraveyard at all. Check out their reviews and you'll see why.

Thanks guys, i bought the gates belt kit from rockauto and a aisin water pump and a beck arnley tensioner. I got it all for 177 and its all really nice parts.
