Dont buy eBay belts, water pumps especially... And no one will care that you have a "aftermarket timing belt" Stick with a oem belt, you wont be sorry.
don't forget the balance shaft belt if you haven't done a elimination.
You might save money now with that cheap ebay kit, but in the long-run you will be regretful.

Pick a vendor and get a full OEM timing belt kit. It'll contain 2 pulleys, tensioner, and a belt. If you have your balance shafts still, get a new BS belt and pulley. Skimping on quality for price will cause more troubles shortly down the road. That eBay belt may last a week or months, doubt it would last over a year before failing unexpectedly.

Amen

The one i found is on exterme psi but its almost 300 dollars and has no waterpump, and doesnt look like anything special. Its a lil agrivating that it costs so much for a random part, i know its an important part i was just liking the cheap price, guess ill suck it up and buy the better one.

Some parts are worth their weight in gold for the protection they offer for quality control.

I noticed that the pump in this eBone link is a GMB water pump. Aren't they supposed to be good as OEM pumps?

The belts looks like Contitech belts - all European OHC motors uses Contitech...and I heard that Mitsu belt are Contitech belts rebadged for Mitsu use.

EDIT: after reading this link, it appears that this seller is putting together a decent package, but true, the products listed in this page can be misleading since one can't "look before you buy"'

I have a GMB pump installed and no problems after 3 yrs/25k miles. Course, I got it from NAPA.

There isnt much to a water pump. IMO a water pump is probably one of the only maintenance parts I will go aftermarket. GMB manufactures OEM replacement parts and really is actually a good pump. As stated above, you do not want to skimp when it comes to timing components. The OEM belt has been proven to hold over 1000whp continuiously. I would go with nothing but OEM or if you wish to go aftermarket then HKS or Greddy would get my vote. As for the tensioner and pullies.... OEM.

I thought it was a descent package its a gbm pump so a good pump i have heard of conti belts before and i was going to buy a oem tensioner anyway so i think this is the way im going to go even if its a ebay belt, ill let you know if something ends up bad LOL i traded a bike i never rode for the car and havent spent a whole lot putting it back to gether soo i dont have alot to loose anyways i have 2 other daily drivers.

I purchased the gates racing kit from extrememepsi. I kinda like there products.
Not trying to steal the thread but can anybody tell me what websites sell the gates racing hoses and other items. Extremepsi only had the water pump and belts.

WTF 155 bucks for a water pump? ..don't think so ...

..and I wonder on ITM stuff ... maybe someone can chime in and clairify ITM products.

I've done lifters for a 1.8L with ITM lifters and they've seem to hold, but that's about it.

Lol nope im cool, ima take the ebay danger and save some money. Those kits look cheap till u actually add the parts you have to have. Thanks for the help and sorry for my grammar DSM1G90, I assume you were talking to me. LOL

Again thanks for the help and info but a whole kit from conti with- Timingbelt pullys GMB waterpump new tensioner and adding a balance belt is just over 200. Just seems like alot better deal.

Ill check advanced auto's site. I live like 2 blocks away from autozone and advanced.

Advance has a descent deal 129 for a dayco timing and balance belt with idlers.
80 for the Actuator
And 38 for a new GMB pump that doesnt come with a gasket.
So overal same price just a choice of brands.

Why would you double check it before the teardown? Never replaced a belt just curious not being a smart ass.
