Bill! Did you text me a while ago? My phone was all messed up and I got it several days late, so it felt weird if I texted you back waaay late. ROFL Either way, PM me some pictures!

No, the build never happened. I had several people interested in coming, but decided to work ahead (like I always do) and get the engine assembled and ready to go. Hopefully I'll never have to prospect a build like that again WTF I'm still kicking myself in the ass from not picking up that hood of yours :coy: Anyway, goodluck with whatever project you decide to pick up now.

Yeah it's cool LOL. The project now is hx52 with stroker trying to get into the 9's :rocks:

Lol what kind of spool up are you expecting on that hx-52 with a stroker? I know it looked like bigladys friend was spooling pretty late in the power band.

Na biglady's friends car didn't look too bad but I'm not really to concerned about full spool as this is a drag car that will see the street every blue moon for shits and giggles. I mean I have no interior a kirkey seat and a 10 point cage so you you really can't worry about things that dd's and street cars have to worry about. It's a trade off.

Headgasket is 100%:

It didn't leave as much a residue as I had thought with the copper spray:

Makes me think about running a Stock H/g with Copper spray...
How did you first torque and when did you re-torque the head down?

very nice! I may do this for my entire build but I dont think I'll have the pateience but we'll see

Keep it up , Good work!

The only update is he finally started the car after however many months...

I'll see you in my garage Tom!

Well, life got a little hectic and I haven't been able to fire the car up for about 3 weeks. I plan on changing the oil on her and starting her up this Thursday :rocks: The car/motor currently has about 250 miles since the build and still has a retarded charging problem. I still suspect a faulty autozone alternator, so an OEM one will be sourced soon and swapped. Just in time for some springtime racing :)

Good to hear! I was getting worried there for a while - you disappeared and the talks of possibly selling again.

I have the materials to make a sign for you ;)

Hah. Pay for sign materials and get a free car! no seriously, depending on finance, I may have to let the talon go anyway. I'll be asking 10-12k, but with this market I'm sure the car won't be selling for a long time

I turned the car on the other day after changing the oil to some fresh NDSAE30 oil and drove her around the block. The weird part is the car starts and acts normal (idles/drives at 15V) then after the car gets warm the voltage dips. Again, probably due to a crappy alternator. I drove the car back up the driveway and she's sitting again. I need to source an OEM alternator soon!

5+ months of slumber!

Get that puppy to the track! That way you can motivate me more to get my damned car back on the road.

.....or if you are ever free one Saturday you can cruise on up here and lend me a hand :thumb:

Man all this work and you might sell it!?
Well its really nice and I'm sure I'll be scoping out this thread for more details whenever I need to rebuild my motor. There's a lot of good information in here and I love the step by step rebuild thing you have going on.
Good luck with it.
Will you be at the Shootout?

I know this is old but how is she running? I'm putting my 6 bolt together later this week and I'm becoming worried about my Piston to Wall Clearance....stock bore with good cross hatches so I just got stock pistons (came with them, OEM 2g's).

if you sold that car, I would seriously have to come look at it and bring alot of cash to jersey.

Only problem though... this thread pulled so much attention, no matter where I took that car, it would still be "blcknspoolin's car" ;)

No, but in all seriousness, if you are selling that car, pm me. I live in NC and will go to NJ and check it out (after i get back from afghanistan in august)
