it's only fun AFTER you have spent the money and recuperated. :tease: I'm off to tie up some loose ends and hopefully drop the engine in today :D

So how did it go? I worked on my car today replacing both balljoints and tightening down my loose ass axle nuts. THEY WERENT EVEN FINGER TIGHT!!! WTF

Damn that sucks, at least you got to it before anything happened OMG As for my night? it sucked the big one. Problem after problem after problem, one in which included my engine swinging upside down on the engine stand and breaking my thermostat housing off. I'm very tired and fed up wit the car. Tomorrow will be another day, but for now I'm spent. :beatentodeath:

Where was the GF to catch that shit? WTH is she good for is she wont catch your engine. WTF :D Well im sure it will be worth it in the end. Did you break any of the bolts int the Tstat housing off in the head? Yea im glad too. I thought the movement left and right was my engine, haha, negative, it was the wheels moving side to side. :notgood: OUCH

James :laser::talon:

That could have ended much worse by the sound of it!

And your right blck tomorrow is another day, just keep on moving. And double and triple check shit. I look forward to seeing the end result of all this. Good luck.

THE CAR RUNS! :rocks: :rocks: :rocks: After dealing with this NIGHTMARE, I got the car to fire up and she moved under her own power out of the garage today! Pictures, updates, and more things to walkthrough will be on the way as soon as my girlfriend gets back from florida with my point&shoot. Sadly, though, I definitely cannot take the car to JMF's open house tomorrow due to several issues :(

1. boost leak somewhere (test to come)
2. passenger side axle spline will not stay inside the bellhousing. I took the metal clip out of the axle to stick it back into the spline, but now it won't stay in place? Anything I can do?
3. misc. coolant leaks
4. retorque head after it's 3rd heat cycle and finally button up the valve cover.

You need to see if the metal clip is moving out of its spot on the axle. I had this happening on a car I was working on when I was a mechanic and it would cause the axle to slide back out. Sometimes the metal clip would slide back into place when the axle came out and sometimes it would stay in the transmission.

yup, I was just researching that. I mangled mine pretty badly taking it out and forgot to put it back in :notgood: Anyone got a part number for it? I'm calling autozone right now to see if they have it and JNZ doesn't list it on their website?

Autozone won't have it by itself. I'm pretty sure this is the right part number MB160387. JNZ lists that on their site. I looked it up with CAPS for you.

Thanks Pat. I ended up finding a FWD one from a buddy, so the car is running and mobile! I took her for a pretty easy moto-man 5 mile break in. Lots of revving, engine braking, and going through 1st and 2nd up to about 5k. After the initial 3 miles or so, I gave her a little boost and man it felt GOOD. :thumb: I also snapped some pics of the completed car before i stepped in the house. Let me know what you think.

I didn't make it. The car was running that day, but I had some issues I had to put up with before I took the car out again. The car made a nice 30 mile trip to Edison today and worked out just great :thumb:

haha, I have a stock trans too! I blame it on my shitty driving and low boost! If we ran again with the tune I had, I know FOR SURE that i'd be 123-125mph! I was maxing the GM3bar (31psi), remember my whole stupid NLTS problem? I don't know if I told you, but it wasn't a problem at all! I just rest my foot on the clutch pedal during racing, so it always activates the NLTS half way down the damn track! I don't think I'll ever change the way I drive, so NLTS has been temporarily turned off. Next year we BOTH better be mid to high 11's or else we should just burn it at the track :rocks:

p.s., update your timeslip. We both know you ran faster than 12.1 ! (by a couple hundredths haha)

Nah, its just really really tired. Between that and the noise my also stock tranny makes, the knock sensor go crazy. I dont think ive ever ran more than 14degrees of timing.

Anywho, i'm glad your car is coming along, Tom. Wish me luck in building mine. It should be done in a about a year.

Tom, I hope all is well, long time no talk, haha. The car looks bad ass, GREAT JOB. I just picked up a 91 Tsi AWD today, with two engines, and two transmissions along with asorted bits. Its going to be quite a job to get it sorted out and put back together. Hopefully have her moving under her own power in a year. Anyways, car looks great and I will have to come check it out while im back in NJ for the holidays.

I think i'm just a little late LOL. Is this the build you hit me up aboaut a while ago? I never heard anything about it so I just figured that you bought one already built. Looks clean. I don't think people got it though you should come over and show them again and put it in my car LOL ROFL. I still have to get my hands on long block parts as I bought my shell and turbo and intake setup first with this build and then wil build my engine around them. I did it the other way with my 420a build and ended up SOL because I had a car with a built motor down to bolts and nuts but the compression was too high for what I wanted to do in the end and the trans wasn't gonna hold up to what I wanted either so this time I'm gonna figure out the power adders and supporting mods I want to run based on my goals then build a motor and trans that can take it

No, the build never happened. I had several people interested in coming, but decided to work ahead (like I always do) and get the engine assembled and ready to go. Hopefully I'll never have to prospect a build like that again WTF I'm still kicking myself in the ass from not picking up that hood of yours :coy: Anyway, goodluck with whatever project you decide to pick up now.
