Pulled the valve cover so I could watch for anything out of the ordinary. I'm trouble shooting low oil pressure at the head.

The port in this picture literally shoots a solid stream of oil much like a "Super Soaker" squirt gun. Hard steady stream immediately after start-up. Hit my hood and made a real mess, would have shot 6 foot in the air if the hood wasn't installed. It is only the AFT port that does this. Is this normal? Should this port be bleeding off this much oil?

Does the HLA have anything to do with this port? I do have another HLA I could try to install.

Thank you

the other side is clogged then,
they both should stream oil, it is after all the HLAs so you do not over pressurize the HLAS and pop them apart

Anyway way to go about cleanign them out without removing the head? I shut the motor down immediatly. Maybe the AFT is just the first port to get the oil pressure and I did not let the car idle long enough. Would pumping the lifters up with to much pressure also cause lifter noise and engine seizing at RPM?

But shoudl it be shooting out 6 foot in the air? seems excessive to me.

unsrew the little plug that is inline of the oil galley that is on the out side of the head

I was just looking at that. Looks like a pain to get to under the cam gear. I'll give it a shot.

Can anyone confirm this port sprays like a geyser with engine at idle speeds?

Or if excessive built up oil pressure along one of the lifter banks would be enough to seize the engine?

Only happens while cruising with a load. I'm fine at idle. And even idled the motor up from 1500-2600 rpm and let it sit for 45mins. Soon as I get on the road and let her set at 3k or so rpms or so it will slow the engine down and shut off the car everytime. Within 2 minutes the car will start back up again. Valve train noise gets pretty bad right before it seizes. Or at least it sounds like valve tap.

the oil would just add to pressure elsewhere in the engine. and yes, when oil is pressurized and warm, it will shoot like water.

You cant just run an engine without a valve cover unless you're going to be cleaning up the insane mess.

I'm not surprised it shot 6 feet into the air. When I was doing my lifters, I droped a lifter in the hole and just from that oil shot out of another lifter into my face. Now imagine say 30psi of oil pressure in that same area.

If you want to clean it out, there is a plug in each corner of the head. One is your oil feed line from the head. Isn't too hard to find the other three. You can pull those out and use a brush and brake parts cleaner to swab it out. I use a rifle cleaning kit from my M14 to reach all the way through.

Not sure if you can see or get to the ones on the front of the engine with the head on.
