I know this is similar to the road race guys but even so looking at their thread got me thinking about my drag/street car. My 8 second Raven build as seen here: The RAVEN!: AWD/Auto/S400/Nitrous/Alum. rod/100% street car build *8/9s or bust!*

Has been sitting for eons due to priority listing. Every time I try to put another car on hold to finish the Talon, new plans come up and I am back at it with another car.

Currently my RX8 is being rebuilt from the ground up for next year so there goes a majority of the money, and what that doesn't take has been trickling into the house as well as my oldschool 1965 trunk I am restoring to trailer my 1972 Camaro which also need a new rear end after its 496 stroker totally obliterated it on my last carshow/track outing. Hell the new wheels alone for the RX8 would be able to finish off at least 80% of what I have left to complete on the Talon. ;( I don't know where I lost my motivation but I need it back.

What I need left:

New manifold. I could easily pick up a readily available top mount or even a bottom mount but the setup I want to run will require a reversed mounting for the turbo and retain a lot of stock components all the while positioning the turbo so it can mate up to my 4" aluminum exhaust. I have looked towards companies like ETS and JMF and they have all said they can do it. MAPerformance was no help at all in this venture.

Fuel pump. Sold it to a friend who needed it sooner than I did only for him to pretty much give it away with his shell he sold, I was beyond pissed but its what ever. I'll most likely go for a single eliminator pump and call it a day. I still have all my lines and injectors plus I just scooped up the fittings and new fuel rail from Brent..

ECU. I also sold my AEM EMS to a buddy who needed it sooner than I did (currently powering a 650+whp beast) so that leaves me in the dog house BUT I have always wanted to run DSMap and the only thing stopping me was the inability to control boost at the level I'd need it to be done. Well after talking to the guys over on the Tuner Pro boards, the new 4 bar map sensor just might work. So do I go AEM EMS, or do I push the envelope again and try something new? At the end of the day I'll leave that up to my tuners who will have the final say. If they trust in the Jackal 3d maping then Im game, but I wont do it at a sacrifice of drivability considering this will be a 100% street driven vehicle.

Hmmm, and I think that's it... So I take that back.. The wheels on the RX8 would pay for 100% of what I need left to finish but I need to push myself. I think I need to call up one of my buddie with a fast 10s+ or 600+ whp DSM/EVO and tell them to give me a ride or let me borrow their cars. That will probably get the ball moving.

Guess I'm kind of disappointed in myself to say the least but once you get use to your DSM sitting, it makes it easier and easier to let it just sit. When I DD my last 35r big boy I made sure it had the latest and greatest, coolest and newest and I was tinkering with it damn near daily. I miss that car with a passion..

I have a manual steering rack that should be here in a couple days or so that will give me something to occupy my time for a bit. Also have 2 street/strip racing tires that should be in today so be mounting those up and hopefully be able to run one more time before the season closes. Then it's a waiting game to see when ECMtuning releases the dsmlink LITE package for 1g's. After that i'll keep my eye out for cheap suspension parts and start to peice together a HX35 set up. I'm looking to drop some weight off the car and almost double its power. Next year should be fun!

Got any pics of the RX-8? Sounds like a sweet car.

I don't have many pictures of how the car looks now (been kind of a secret) New front end sneak peak. Mind you the car is a whole different color now (satin white with carbon fiber accents and roof)

Wow. Craziness.

I plan on getting the ESi-T to the track quite a bit next season (not for competition though). For the off-season, just have to finish up the build and hoping to get a bunch of dyno time for some tuning. For now since I don't have any times or anything for the car, and this is my first build and 1st time tuning with MSnS... shooting for low 13s and then 12s by mid season.

1. Polk Control Arms
2. FP cams/Fidanza Gears
3. more weight reduction

somehow.....hopefully...

4. Rollbar/Seat/Harness:pray:

Full motor build.. Bigger injectors.. bigger fuel pump.. more boost and e85.. hoping for 11s..

more specific. 2.3l stroker build all manley, FIC 1450 blue max, supra pump and a o44 inline, around 30psi, and e85.. Should be easily good for 11s..

My goal is simple; I'd like to go faster! First I have to finish rebuilding a new cylinder head with Supertech nitrided valves and Kiggly beehive springs. Then upgrade the turbo to a PTE billet 6262, upgrade to Kelford cams, convert to E85 with larger injectors and larger fuel pump, and top it off with DOT slicks so I can stay in the same racing class. Naturally the funds for these upgrades come from selling off the previous parts, so I gotta get off my arse and post some classifieds.

My goals are as follows:

dsmlink v3
gm 3in maf
custom intercooler
half rad.
front exit exhaust
getting her back on e85
weight down to ~2450
and making it look more appealing :).
rota slip streams (15x6)
fuel cell
1000cc injectors

... lets just say the list keeps going LOL

I dont have anything as exciting as the original post or any pictures with fine ass models. But since class has started up im back to broke but i have a few tricks up my sleeve.

Hx35..should have one by tonight
Tial Wg
Dnp housing
Body work and paint
Poly bushing the suspension
Larger intercooler

Crank the boost up, wish for 11s in one hand shit in the other an see what i get first.

I would be happy to at the very least to get my SMIC and twin scroll manifold built. Would like to see the engine assembled, running and tuned also, but we will see after these last setbacks.
As for an ET I would like to atleast make a run or two down the 1320 to get some numbers and the bugs worked out.

Sense the holset took a shit I'm not exactly sure..

I was going to stick with the hx40 with the bolt on housing and just get a smim and cams and take out some weight and try to make the thing hook and hope for mid to low 10's on a bolt-on turbo.. But now with some extra money I will have I might go away with the bolt-on turbo and get something with a little more kick :)

Just know that with more power comes more headaches LOL... There are so many time I wish I stopped at my 35r. So many... haha

Im going to see if I can get a good deal on some parts to built a "long rod" 2.0/2.1. I would also like a nice t-4 twinscroll 35r topmount, well see how the tax return works out.

What are you guys stripping out to get your cars weight down that low?
My car weighs 2720 with out me in it, and I can find anything else to strip, besides getting a CF hood!!

You don't need to do all that to run a 11s pass!!

Man your car was haulin too!! What happened to the hx40? I think that it's time for the new PTE billet 6262, that should provide you with a "little more kick".

As far as my goals....

1. Finish installing front supension bushings
2. Get to the track!!!!!!!
3. Get to the track!!!!!!!
4. Get to the track!!!!!!!
5. Get to the track!!!!!!!

Yeah, I hear ya! I didn't race much this year and I'm suffering from withdrawals. :barf: I plan to race a lot more next season.

Um, just about everything! There's alot to pull out for sure. My talon is at 2335 or so.... and now I'm enroute to Gran Turismo Stage 4 weight reduction!
