Best of Luck, you'll love the slicks. I managed a 1.59 on slicks on the 14b last year but with your suspension you might bet able to grab a 1.4x:thumb:

The best I ever ran on street tires was 1.65 which is pretty good I guess. I would venture to think that 1.4's are possible on the slicks. Even if I could match your 1.59, that would get the job done well. The best 60' I could manage the last time with the drag radials was a 1.79 and it didn't net my best run as I spun through 2nd gear. Most times were 1.82-1.92 spinning too much.

Thanks!

Phil

Sweet looking car,get an 11sec timeslip,then upgrade.;)

Thanks! I've been told to upgrade numerous times by numerous people over the years...if I ever do, it will only be to the EVO 3 16G if I decide to take drag racing a bit further. The car is due to hit the road course in the future so.....

Thanks again to all for the props.

Ready to finally see the other side of 12.0

I've left plenty undone that will help in the future, for example: gutted doors, rear 1/4 lexan, cams, balance shaft removal kit, and more.

And here is the finished product ready to race as soon as I get the chance::D

That is quite possibly the best hood scoop I've ever seen on a 1G car. Any chance you took some photos of you sticking it on there? Or better yet, do you know the brand and P/N of that scoop? Best of luck to ya!

I don't have any photos of it before I had it molded to the hood. I will check the underside and see if there is a P/N or manufacturer for you. Thanks for the message!

Very nice Phil! That car is SWEET! This year you better net some 11's, and I'm finally getting a 14b project off the ground and to the track, 12's will make me happy this year.

Thanks Shane! I don't like to jinx myself, but 11's should be in the cards this year. Once I get a clean pass, then I'll be able to predict how deep in the 11's it should go. Potentially, it had 11.70's in it last time with a cleaner launch.

Glad to hear you will get back into it as well. We are a small group lookin for every last thing to get that ET down. It's not like we're bolting on another 100 HP. To those who think this is useless with the 14b....it actually takes quite a bit to eek out that next .10 in ET. I like the challenge. It's me and the car against 1320ft. Good luck and let me know how it goes. I don't know when I'll hit the strip for the first time, but I'll report when it happens. You do the same!

Not to mention it is better on a budget (or at least starts out that way haha). I'll keep ya updated throughout the year and please do the same. I'm looking forward to seeing ya tear up the road courses too. It's cool to see dsms, which aren't known for their handling, net some good times making turns.

Yeah, I can vouch for the wheelspin. I mean, AWD burnouts are fun and all, but not going crooked off the line at the track, LOL.

(Hey Phil, I finally found your thread) Hit the nail on the head with the question of how deep. Without those rock hard drag radials, you should be just fine. Now when we adjust the air pressure, it will actually do something, LOL.

And dammitt Phil, I DO want that hood scoop on my CF (of course, being the cheap bastard that I am, I don't want to pay for it :D)

She looks sexy-nice,

Yeah, I think the slicks are what the combination was missing. I'm sure pressure adjustments will have an effect now! Thanks for the props! Not sure about the first outing, but, hopefully there will be something to come back up here and talk about before too long. Whenever you're ready.

Car's looking great Phil. Definately in the 11's... I'm sure once you learn to launch with those slicks pretty deep in the 11's too.

Should I look foward to seeing you at one of this year's ccdsm drag days? maybe we can line up again?:thumb:

.....I didn't really expect this many replies. Thanks to all for the props!!! To answer the questions.......that scoop was actually sitting on the shelf at a tuner shop I used to work at here in Connecticut. The more I looked at it, the more I liked it. So, it made its way onto the hood. A long way back, maybe 1995 or so, there was a talon in a feature article in Sport Compact where the owner had the factory headlight covers welded to the hood and finished off. He then installed two PIAA projectors behind the lenses for headlights. I remembered how much I liked that and just incorporated that into may race set-up with no lights. The intake in the lense just took alot of time and patience with some filing. I'm definitely happy with the way it came out. I need to set the pins properly and tie up some loose ends and I'll clean it up and get some good pics.

Thanks again to everyone!

Phil Beers

What ever happened to George D's white car? I'd still love to do that headlight mod to my 90. I think I remember your car running 12.8 @ 104 waay back in the day with very little done. Good luck on your quest for more speed :)

12 seconds on a 14b!!!!! What kind of boost are you running? That is wicked as hell, That has got to be the sweetest 1g hood/ headlight setup I have ever saw!!!!!!! Just totally sic

Thanks!!! I would say definitely in the 11's, but, I try not to speculate, at least outloud. Once I learn the launch, yes, I would agree that I think deep in the 11's is possible. Considering I went 12.0 with a 1.89 60', 2-3 tenths off the 60' should put me around 11.6-7, maybe better. If I could cut 1.5X 60's, sub 11.50 is possible.

I may be at the dragdays, that would be nice, and we can definitely go some more rounds! Thanks for the message!

You know, I'm not sure, but that thing did look killer. Yes, that was most likely me. Seems like I'm 12 seconds for life or something. My first 12 pass was at E-town Import Survival series in Oct. '97. It was a 12.95@104. The next weekend went 12.82, 12.83, and 12.76 all at 104. That was with filter, ATR 3" cat-back, hollow cat, and 20 psi. So, you were right...."BACK in the day."
