12 seconds on a 14b!!!!! What kind of boost are you running? That is wicked as hell, That has got to be the sweetest 1g hood/ headlight setup I have ever saw!!!!!!! Just totally sic

Thanks for the props on the hood and light, I appreciate it!

As far as boost goes...in the past I have run as much as 23.5 psi which really was unneccesary and created more heat than anything.

Currently, I run at 21= 295 AWHP and 337 TQ, at 16psi = 285 AWHP and 290 TQ

Wow Phil!! You have really done it big. I hope you break that elusive 12 second barrier. Sometimes thats all we need is to take a break from it all and then jump back in with two feet and new found focus. I know for me personally when I finally get back to the states and can pull my talon out of storage I plan on doing some weight reduction and seeing what my baby can pull out of my lil' 14b. My talon has been sitting in storage since 2004, shortly after I made my personal best 14b pass @ 12.1. Plus with the slicks your 60's should be amazing. I was running in the 1.68-1.74 range on my 18" street tires and crazy stiff Road Race setup. Just really glad to see you back in it and like Nate said, it will make that first 11 second pass, Oh so sweet!

Hey!!! Nice to see you up here! Thanks for the props! Yeah, you are right. I've really been out of it for over 5 years. Crazy, I used to drag race 4 times a month until about 2002.

Weight reduction will help you for certain, your car is already killer quick, best thing about weight reduction. It's the only FREE speed you will ever find!

I actually went to a full road racing set-up before the last time at the strip with the JIC coilovers, every bushing, toe kit, Suspension Tech rear sway, etc. The car is super stiff because of how light it is, therefore I had immense wheelspin not only out of the hole, but through second gear as well. There is no real weight transfer so I blow the tires off it. So, yes, the slicks should do the trick. But, now, it's matter of how quickly I can learn to drive on them. My best 60' on normal street tires is 1.65, not bad. My average was in the same range as yours for the most part.

So, hopefully I'll hit the strip soon here.

Thanks for the message!

Phil

Phil,
I'm digging the two tone red/black, i like how you lowered the black into the top of the fender. Paint looks super clean man. The headlight mod looks clean too, you could hack some of that metal in front of the air filter. Don't know how much airflow you would gain, but i just did it to my laser and wow, now there is a big hole. I just squared it off trimming around the core support. Hey it is a form of weight reduction (0.0002lbs).

Artic-
Looks like the three of us kinda took a 4-5 year break and we're all kinda making our way back in to it now. Of course i don't have the same car but i did pick up a new 1g. My old white '93 talon was sold to a member on here and he just sold it to some one in NJ. The guy that had it after me had it running high 10's!....not on a 14b though.

Keep in touch guys, and good luck at the strip.

Travis

Thanks Travis! She sure ain't no show car, but, I have always tried to keep the talon in the best shape I can. I will most likely cut the section out behind the headlight like you're talking about, I have just never cut any sheetmetal on the car to this day. Drilled a few holes, that's it. But, I have seen it done and I'm sure it helps some. I think I'm past the point of needing to worry about stuff like that. It's a race car now. No turning back!:thumb:

It's not a racecar until the weatherstripping is removed (hint, hint)
and how about the cables that release the rear hatch and gas door? You don't really need those, do you? :)

Thanks for the pics. You have a very nice looking car. I'm envious!

The weatherstripping huh? Hmmm... Cable for hatch is gone! I still have the original gas tank so that cable is still there.

Thanks for the compliments! I appreciate it! I try to keep the talon as clean as possible while still remembering it's meant to drive not show.
