So one fun day at the track, i bust up my tranny real bad. I figured it was probably a shift fork or sometrhing but after taking it back into the dealership (where i had the current tranny installed/warrantied) they told me the wqhole tranny was cashed. He later finds out and tells me that my transfer case is shot, and my clutch is "oil soaked"

The clutch in there is a ACT 2100 which was installed at the same time as the transmission, last november. It still worked just fine with no slippage at all whatsoever before taking it into the dealer to get repaired.

Has anyone ever heard of a clutch getting "oil soaked???" and if so, do i need to order a whole new clutch kit, or can i just order another clutch disc and use the same pressure plate?

Also taking suggestions for what flywheel to put in while the trannys out.

A clutch can get oil soaked from either your tranny going and taking out the input shaft seal, or your rear main seal leaking oil. I'd bet on an input shaft seal since you have other tranny problems as well. The transfer case going at the same time seems rather odd however. What exactly happened at the track?

its been grinding into 3rd every now and again before this incident. so a hard shift into 3rd down the track mustve been the icing on the cake and it popped. i had no 3rd or 4th after that. i drove home using 1st, 2nd and 5th. i took it in the next day.

It's not recommended. Same thing happens to the pressure plate as does the flywheel. Hot spots form and the surface becomes un-even. A flywheel can be resurfaced, a PP can not.

As for the flywheel: ACT streetlite and fidanza seem to be the more popular choices.

yeah, if the clutch is rather old, i'd get a new clutch and pp. if it was pretty new, you could probably just spray off any of the oil that got on the pp with some brake cleaner and reuse it. the disc however you can't. the oil can soak into the material on the clutch disc and it'll stay there....and continually cause it to slip. so regardless, you'd need a new clutch disc.

i have a fidanza and love it. also, being that it has a replaceable friction surface, you can just replace them over and over and it's good to go. no worries about being out of spec unlike a stock or ACT flywheel.

i'd wonder why they'd say the transfer case is toast though. especially if they're not gonna replace it under a warranty or something and make you pay the $$$$$ for it. transfer cases operate entirely different than how a tranny would operate. why are they saying you need a new one? what are they saying happened to it?

they said when they found it there was no fluid in it???

i ended up ordering a new clutch disc, and fidanza flywheel. I didnt buy the whole clutch kit cause the kit i already had in was installed in november so im hoping the pressure plate will still be good.

parts come in wednesday. cant wait to try it all out... i miss my baby...
