Well, after the snaffuu of the lost 17mm tranny bolt coming into the bellhousing and soaking my disc in gear oil (wasn't that soaked but everything in there was damp basically) anyway it was slipping so i pull trans and fix, brake clean disc and clean grooves out from worn/dust form cltuch wearw whcih is normal, but even after break cleaning everything including the PP and flywheel she still slips easy but i don't smell clutch

i'm wonderring if this will burn it's self out (i doubt that) or if i need a new disc (i think i do) and if there's a chance it wore my flywheel on a finish drive homeand then an aftercleaning 2 mile test letting of as soon as it's slipping? I can't remember where the wear was when i saw it last but there's aring of lowered center and i didn't measure step height,,, but ut was holding 500hp before the trans blew. it just got ther gear oilon it and didn't seem to do any betteer

So, I have things to trade dependongon what's being offered if anyone wants to help. I have a 95-96 23 spline t-case, I have a 2g non LSD rear end, and a low mile dual abll bearing 50 trim turbo with T3 stage III turbine wheel in a 68 a/r housing t3 flanged of course 5 bolt exit

edit: al i'veread says nothing will get it out and itwill slip when hot all the time, i've heard OEM disks are good for high 9;s (read recently on tuners) but what about parts store disks??they any good or at least asgod as OEM?? I need to get off cheap and if it's just a surfacing and cheap disk then so be it but i don't wanto buy a discthat will just shred under my power levels either

I had my fears of parts store discs, i wouldn't mind OEM but localmitsu doesn't have in stock :(

i've had a few offers for trades on my BB 50 trim, but it hurts me to even sell it as cheap as i've listed it, letalone tradeit for parts (trading is one of my only "net buying" worries, becayse there's been times i've shipped and never gotten my parts and there's no way to cover your ass likethere is withn paypal disputes and such)

But the thing is slipping bad, flywheel needs surfaced atleast, PP is OK, no hot spots, i' babied it when i reaized itwasslipping and drove it as little as possible to test and parked it when still slipping

As far as parts store disks, are there ones that ae god and ones that are not

Have you checked your flywheel step? IMO, that's probably the problem since it isn't burning the disk. How did the disk look, anything noticeably different?

Honestly, I will go ebay before I go to parts stores and especially OEM mitsu clutches. I have heard good things from XTD IIRC. I would try that before a parts store or OEM.
Ebay is pretty cheap too.

Here's the link to a review of an XTD clutch:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-parts-feedback-reviews/396500-xtd-stage-4-clutch.html

BUT, I have heard that some warranties on parts store clutches are really good so even if you go through 1 or 2 a week you can get more LOL.

Ok as far as parts store disks stay away. My buddy put one in his gsx and it just slips in 3rd bad and he is nowhere near your power levels and this is the second one, but like stated above the warrenty is nice if you don't care to change your clutch weekly even though I think that would suck.

Now for trading online I've also always been afraid to do it, but what I did on another forum was see of a mod would care to be a middle man of sorts. Both parties ship them to a un-bias third party that's trustworthy (mod), then when the mods get both parts they ship them to the other person. Of course you would have to find a mod that wouldn't care to do it, if any of them want to be involved. The downside to this is you have to pay shipping twice. But its always an option.

eBay clutches are hit or miss I've seen many people run them no problem and I've also had a buddy run one that was a 6puck sprung and the springs busted out.

TIki.... if you read above, the step height is fine, it wasn't slipping until it got oil on it , it held 500hp the week before, but the flywhel copuild use a surfacing to go with the new disc

mchustle..as for trading like that, wel;l i don't have the time to wait, this house is for sale again and the agents and my folks are bitching about a broken down car that can't be movedfrom the driveway during showings..thney want to put it in the street but i don't want to put any more wear on the clutch components (the car is NOT taken apart) but anyway..my luck!

I see and in that case I would just suck it up get a parts store disk and move it somewhere it can be parked for awhile. Then take it back and tell them it's slipping and get a better one online via cash or trade. That's what I would do personally since I don't care to screw over a parts store that's screwed me so many times, and I have a few people I'm in good with at every local parts store that hooks me up LOL.

Just might be in luck, my machinist wants to look at my flywheelk and double check my measurements

also found a new in box ACT 6 puck 2600 ( i know i know, if it's springs tey might pop out..anyone ever weld them in???) and if no springs the splines might strip but i'll take the chance to have my car back, i'll be probably trading my 1/8th nitro truck in the non dsm adds here for the ACT and paying 40 for the surfacing,, wish me luck, i have to hjve the flywheel there by 3 top be done today, started pulling trans at 10 after 11 and am down to pulling the clutch and flytwheel at this point and that was at 11:49, it's over 103* alreay and i'm working my ass off to te point of feeling faint, but i'm gonna get this biutch done!!!!!!

Flywheel off and re-measured, I THINK i'm ok, the funny part is the step is still at .610 +/- .002 which is perfectly within spec, if it weren't for the chance of getting the new ACT to bed in tonight i wouldn't even surface it if i was just getting a new'sed (new to me used) friction disc LOL

I am wondering about the pressure plate though, i can't tell a wear on it's thickness at all but it's been in the car since at least 2008 and although i don't "beat" my car, I do work the clutch a lot and whn i first went AWD on the PTE6776RS turbo i had really heated the cluitch on a few launches to where 2nd and 43rd slipped so bad i had to let out (probably 5-7 times total) but i like to take good care of my things so i may bead blast it if there's a way to tell on the wear.. I have a new 2100 here that the plate thickness is exactly the same so ii should probably call ACT before i make a decision

another update... I knew something was weird about my flywheel, it's the JDM unit without the "cut outs" by the bolt holes and RRE says that's a problem with some clutches. I have been running a some what newer ACT 2600 mb0x0 or somne odd number on it's diaphram fingers.

but I just hope the new in box ACT with unsprung 6 puck will have the same type of fitment and work with the JDM flywheel, anyone know on that one? I surely can't be trying to get another flywheel too

if youve got a very heavy PP i dont see why a sachs or equivalent disk wouldnt work 4 ya. The sachs HD kit i had worked great, but the PP wasnt up to the task once i started putting down 25psi on the pte 5858.

Well the one i was supposed to get now the guy can't fd it after 3 hours of digging through his storage, so i'm ####ed, thishouse is on the mrket and i had to promise before i tore it apart that i'd have it back together before the viewing tomorrow (car on jackstands doens't look good at a realk estate showiong)

so now i'm screwed into using what ever i can find, god i don't know why i ever depend on one person EVER in life, if i don't line up at least 5 different options for one problem i always gt screwed!@

IF I HAD BUY A PARTS STORE DISK, is there any brand any one's had luck with?

I feel ya man. I alway feel like I have to have minimum 3 people lined up if a problem arises because no one is ever consistant. If I had the money, I'd overnight you an OEM disk to get you through this. Keep your head up man. You'll figure something out. Good luck with it man!!!

I looked and found some people who were happy with Nappa discs, but along the way i heard to stay away from Durlast BS like Autozone, Advance, Oreilly's Etc

like i said, the sachs 6 puck disk treated me well and with oreillys it has alifetime warranty. Which they warrantied in full! They gave me 100% refund even though it had no defects at all, just trusted my word. It slipped on me but the disk was in perfect condition, just the PP is a bit weak. Its around 200 bucks, kind of on the high side for a clutch kit(oem type) but the TOB is great, just dont use the PP. Looking at your HP and torque you wouldnt last long on it LOL
I went with the comp stage 4 6 puck and im very happy. Very heavy PP, think its around 2900lbs and the TOB is holding up very well so far

Got any links steve? I haven't found anything good or bad really, must not be putting correct terms in google, but some how i have to finish this car tonight even if i put it back on the POS oil soaked disk cause it has tobe moved nd the oil spot cleanbed by 11 AM tomorrow for the showing....maybe I can get by with swinging by a noose in the entry way when they come in and no one will notice the oil... I so freaking sick of DSM car problems this year, thisis the ONLY year i've had this kinda issues, usually one thing here and there a year at most, this year is non f**king stop

Not a single store in the area had anything aside from the "stock style replacement" just wondering if any of those discs would hold up to the power if i re-use my ACT 2600 PP and my surfaced flywheel, there's a guy on CL selling an exedy but his texts come through in broken english with half my old text attached and i'm too pissed off to deal with him , i seriousely want to kick some one's teeth in at the moment, the guy could have said HOURS ago he wasn't gona come up with it but kept saying , i'm looking here, a buddy is looking there, we'll get one bla bla bla bla bla.. I better not see him for at least a month or i'll catch an assault charge on GP alone
