yesterday my oil pressure light was going on and off while driving somewhere. once i got to where i was going i shut the car off and started it up 4 hrs later and drove it home with no light this time? i then let the car cool down for a few hrs and then checked the oil. the oil level was perfect... any suggestions of why that light may have come on?

thanks

kevin

Make sure your pressure is ok while driving. If it is,the dummy light sender is bad.

Get an oil pressure gauge, that's the only way to know if your pressure is good. The wire for the sending unit can come loose and cause the light to flicker, I would get under the car and check it out.

ill get an oil pressure gauge soon... i just got 2 new gauges and a dual pod so ill have to figure something out. where is this wire that im looking for? thats exactly what it was doing flickering....

I had a similar problem. It would flicker when I started to apply the brakes. I inspected aroudn the oil filter area, and the sensor. Everything was fine. Like I said only when I started to apply the brakes. When stopped or just cruising no problem. The problem was my lower IC pipe would shift when braking and it woudl touch the sensor and I guess ground it thus causing the oil light to flicker, the harder I applied the brakes, the more solid the light would be, until of course it was close to a complete stop then it would turn right off.

Make sure something similar isn't happening to you.
