oem vs bodykit

I'm personally a fan of the eclipses sporting the talon wings, so that is something kind of unique you might want to look into

Nice..it looks pretty clean im not sure how i feel about the molding together, i like the lines, what sides are those and how do they compare to oem (ground clearance, weight, one or two piece)

And i dont think im physically able to put an aluminum it would be a mix of:confused::barf::sosad: haha

side skirts sit lower for sure. they are one piece, the door moldings have been removed and welded shut/fixed over. as far as weight, they are within a few lbs of the stockers, nothing to worry about. original fit wasnt great.

Like how much lower because im sitting pretty low as it is and colorado roads are pretty unforgiving..

Do you have pics before it was molded?

The talon wings are nice but this whole winglessness i think is going to be permanent, it looks so aggro..i feel like mad max driving:hellyeah:..i just need to get my cf hatch or find a way to cover the holes

I always fall in the middle of both arguments. The DSM is a really great looking car without changing a darn thing, and no I havn't seen a body kit that actually improves the look of these cars. But, with that said subtle improvements of the breed are achievable. I like the look of these cars with a front splitter or a nice lip, the CF hood and hatch always looks nice, the OEM sideskirts are about as perfect as you'll find. I actually like the look of the CF exhaust guard or CF rear panel (forgetting the actual name for that piece) and I was tempted to do all those and even a set of ARC canards for the front. And while I'm on the rant of CF hoods, I'd do the OEM design and add the RRE CF hood vent. Body kits are cool if that's what you're into, but there's just nothing truly special on the market for these cars, just cheap run-of-the-mill knock off designs, the same designs that are out there for just about every FWD car.

well it all depends on what you like. i got the car like that , with body kit so there is nothing i can do about it. eventho there is a lots of oem that look really sexy....

I like the Kombat rearend with the 95-96 side skirts & a the 97-99 frontend with door caps with the 97-99 rear spoiler imo. That's what I run anyways on my 98 GS-T.

oem FTW! for 2Gs my fav is the 2Gb Talons. looks awesome and like a shark LOL high rise wing and all.

i would still love to see a gst spyder converted into a 2Gb talon. thatll look SIICCKK!!!!

You guys that cry oem body kits are so boring. Im looking for a new front bumper because truthfully I dont think the talon front flows air very well. Id like a bumper that has a 2gb eclipse look but with larger vents. Ive seen a few around the site but I forget the name. Ill keep looking :)

Found it, or something like it .. cant tell if this one is wide body tho.. love the amount of air I could ram the engine with

If you add some small little touches they go a long way. Stay stock and with the money you save put it into the engine. :D

Body kits are honestly a big waste of time and money in my opinion. You honestly cant tell me azdave's car is not a damn good looking car. If a stock 2g dropped a little with some decent wheels and a fmic doesnt look good enough for you, go buy one of them there pretty new camaro's (sarcasm).

Do what you want to your car man. Don't let anyone tell u what they think. It's your car you drive it, not them. However if u want a clean look go with factory with a cf hood and a front lip. I actually am doing the same thing to my next Eclipse.

On this site, everyone will tell you to slap on nothing but OEM parts on and call it a day. People who try to be different get nailed instantly with "OEM>ALL bombs" or "RIICEEEE!!". (This is not including people who slap on cheap kits that aren't even painted and ride with it looking hideous).

Now I myself, don't like bodykits, but it's YOUR car. Do what you want to it. In the end, all that matters is you being happy with it.

Back in the day when I was 18 I threw a bodykit on my Eclipse, But now I have a 2gb Talon that I keep stock looking. Your styles will change with age usually. If you DO install a bodykit, DO IT RIGHT...don't let it have big gaps and cracks all over haha.
I think SOME bodykits look OK if they are installed Properly and painted.

Body kit=Rice

Bumper lip, and small stuff that accentuate the look is nice, but a F&F body kit... not my liking....

I agree is your own decision... but as a advice... is not good looking...

Give you an example: Is like a girl that gets plastic surgery overdone.... quadruple D's, brazilian ass, HUGE SILICONE LIPS, facial lift... etc... It looks overdone....

But then again... beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Avoid using "rice". But like you said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Im getting tired of the OEM look and WILL be upgrading to a bodykit and it will be done correctly:thumb:

Dude, honestly do whatever you feel is right, picking the body is like picking your clothes you want the style that fits you, some body kits make cars look rediculous and others make them look legit. As far as widebody i have one, and molded...but aftr it i still prefer an oem front bumper with a lip kit or something along those lines
