Hello all, I'm heading down to a stealership this weekend that has acquired this 98 GS-T.

Here's the deal, they don't know very much about it and purchased it from a family member of the previous owner. In my frequent talks i've been able to gleem the following information:

- It has an upgraded turbo
- It has a stand alone engine mangement, laptop needed for tune (DSM link?)
- It was recently tuned by forged performance (i need to call them but I don't want to bug them if they don't remember the car).
- It was converted from FWD to AWD
- It has a full roll cage

What i can guess from the pictures:
It has recently been repainted.
Someone has spent a lot of time and money on this car.

I don't care that much for the body kit and it will go as soon as I get the car on a lift but I really need some help in what I should look for to help identifiy the other modifications done. I mean it could have been just someone that wanted the car to "look cool" and not really do a lot of engine upgrades.

What should I be looking for to identify a good built, and quality components when I get there? Is there any way I could identify like if it has an upgraded fuel pump or injectors? Is it possible to get a good enough look at the turbo to determain which turbo it is?

This would not be my daily driver and I would be a for fun car. I just want to make sure my for fun car can make it back to my house (250 miles away) and I don't have to immediatly dump a bunch of money into it.

OP are you avoiding posting where this is located? I have many more pics if you aren't.

***It appears to be equipped with an avc-r, they have also changed the front bumper, it was advertised with an aftermarket bumper previously. Pyro is pegged with the car off, autometer gauges, boost gauge sits off of 0 with the car off, AEM Wideband. Its advertised on the dealers site as a FWD.

I am kind of trying to not make the location obvious. Silly I know since it actully says in the first picture. The dealership has said that it was converted to AWD when i spoke with them. Your sayng that the boost guage and pyro guage may be off as the values are not right with the car off?

It would appear that the Pyro might be messed up, but I can't say for sure. The boost gauge sits slightly high, whether or not it is a big deal is up to you, some people can't stand if their gauges is off by a hair, some could care less.

I'm just pointing stuff out that I found from the pics to try and help out. More then likely none of that is major. The avc-r is a decent electronic boost controller in my book, and the aem is always a plus. I figured you didn't want to publish it out right, that is why I asked, can't blame you for wanting to snap it up before someone else gets to it!

I was considering seeing if you still wanted someone to come along but unfortunately other plans have me detained!:p

We are heading over there on Sunday if you would want, I would be happy to pay you to help me look it over! Or if you know anyone that knows about DSM's that would want to come with me for some quick cash, we are planning on getting there at 11.

Agree with justin also that its a PTE turbo. Although there are no water lines it can still be a ball bearing housing though.
Not saying you're wrong, but I've yet to run across a ball-bearing center housing without coolant provisions. ;)

MSD Ignition Wires
Evo 3 Intake Manifold
DNP Exhaust Manifolld
TiAL External Wastegate
Breather Filter
GM 3" MAF
Prothan Motor Mount Inserts
Power Block on the Battery
SS Oil Feed
SS Coolant Line
HKS SSQV BOV
Unknown Turbo, but I am thinking it may be some sort of 20G/FP Variant

Just in case anyone else wants to look at the car we went to go check it out. Here are the things that I noticed from a newbie to DSM perspective.
1) Roll bar sits in such a way that the seat can not move back at all
2) Clutch engages at the very top, since I am about 6 feet tall I had to shift with my knee almost even to the steering wheel.
3) Clear coat is busted on the hood
4) Body kit is cracked on th back and the sides
5) Boost guage works intermittently, along with AFR gauge would read 0.0 every now and then.
6) The tune is not good, if the A/C is on the car will die at idle
7) It's very hard to get the turbo to spool and it doesn't seem to pull as hard as it should from butt dyno opinion.
8) It makes a terrible screetching noise when turning that will last for awhile after the turn.

The dealership has had it for a little while and I believe they would take almost any offer for it at this point :). I didn't want to spend the time to try and learn and rebuild a car.

I have no idea how to id a turbo but the trim was .63

That car does not have in Evo3 intake manifold. It's a stock 2g manifold.

its easy to tell if its awd or not by just looking under the car. go have yourself a looksy

It does look like it's awd when we checked it out. Someone posted earlier from the engine bay pic that it was definitely awd. I still have no idea how you would know from the engine bay pic?
