Hello all, I'm heading down to a stealership this weekend that has acquired this 98 GS-T.

Here's the deal, they don't know very much about it and purchased it from a family member of the previous owner. In my frequent talks i've been able to gleem the following information:

- It has an upgraded turbo
- It has a stand alone engine mangement, laptop needed for tune (DSM link?)
- It was recently tuned by forged performance (i need to call them but I don't want to bug them if they don't remember the car).
- It was converted from FWD to AWD
- It has a full roll cage

What i can guess from the pictures:
It has recently been repainted.
Someone has spent a lot of time and money on this car.

I don't care that much for the body kit and it will go as soon as I get the car on a lift but I really need some help in what I should look for to help identifiy the other modifications done. I mean it could have been just someone that wanted the car to "look cool" and not really do a lot of engine upgrades.

What should I be looking for to identify a good built, and quality components when I get there? Is there any way I could identify like if it has an upgraded fuel pump or injectors? Is it possible to get a good enough look at the turbo to determain which turbo it is?

This would not be my daily driver and I would be a for fun car. I just want to make sure my for fun car can make it back to my house (250 miles away) and I don't have to immediatly dump a bunch of money into it.

The kit and the cf hood are the only things I see besides the roll bar, and wheels on the first pic..I can tell it has a fmic kit, a tubular manifold, an external WG, possibly a gm maf that's hard to see..

As you said it has been awd swapped so that is good, and it is a spyder, for rolling with the top down..

Well that tubular exhaust manifold looks to be of some quality and not an ebay pos. You can't really tell what turbo that is from the picture but it's externally gated. There's a GM-MAFT and some kind of aftermarket bov that I really cant see but can tell it's there. There's an ajustable fuel pressure regulator which tells me there's more then likely a high flow pump and larger injectors... It is definitely clean!

and you dont take crap stuff to Forged Performence (atlanta right?) for nothing. They are high dollar quality.

There is an Aeromotive AFPR, which is what is needed for a fuel pump upgrade

He also either has the AFPR modded to his fuel rail, or he picked up the FFWD Fuel kit. The BOV kinda looks like an HKS Bov.

Also looks like he has a sensor tapped into the exhaust mani...unless my eyes are playing tricks on me.

also to add, that looks to be an hks ssqv bov and a 1g throttle body. So the stock intake manifold is most likely got a ported inlet. That also appears to be an egt sensor tapped into the exhaust manifold.

I/C to intake pipe has a GM MAF in it by the looks of it so it might not necessarily be running SD.

"Needs laptop to tune" can mean pretty much any standalone ECU or DSMLink/ECMLink. Hard to tell without looking at the laptop :).

DNP exhaust manifold, external gate off the o2 housing, looks like a PTE-based turbo....that can be good or bad depending on which bearing housing it has, but I'm not seeing water lines so it's probably journal bearing (bad). LOL

3" GM MAS set up for blow-thru, looks like a HKS blow off valve, I see Prothane inserts on the motor mounts, and the car still appears to have the a/c lines intact which is a plus for a daily driver.

I say go for it after you here it run and stuff. It is a clean car and the things that have been done to it were done right.Do you know the mileage on the car and how many pounds of boost it is running?

Wow you guys rock. You sure notice much more than I do.
To answer the above question I don't know how much boost it's running.
It was tuned at forged performance in troudale, OR. Which i believe is another location for the main forged performance as some of their advertisements and other items are the same.

Sorry Justin, LOL but that is a DAN (DNA MOTORING/EBAY) Tubular exaust manifold. That is a 2g fuel rail painted white. EGT sensor, 3" maft, possibly injen intake, not sure but still after market, the rest is correctly stated above. LOL at ag for calling the ps an alt.

OP are you avoiding posting where this is located? I have many more pics if you aren't.

***It appears to be equipped with an avc-r, they have also changed the front bumper, it was advertised with an aftermarket bumper previously. Pyro is pegged with the car off, autometer gauges, boost gauge sits off of 0 with the car off, AEM Wideband. Its advertised on the dealers site as a FWD.

Oh really? That sure looks like a DNP tag in the exact same location as this example:

From what you can see he used quality parts and he spent some money having it tuned. It's safe to say there is probably about 5k in parts and labor on that car. Get some close ups of the turbo.

I also have a DNP manifold and 99% sure thats what it is.

I agree it definitely looks like a dnp manifold to me. Agree with justin also that its a PTE turbo. Although there are no water lines it can still be a ball bearing housing though. Also to the person who said it is on speed density I highly doubt that this is true since for one they are clearly using a gm maf, and two it has a stock map sensor.

Howed that end up at a dealer?!?

Im with this guy :hmm: Wonder why the previous owner gave it there, looked as if someone was ready to wanna make some numbers if he kept going with it

is that a saturn alternator i see down there??

That's what I'm thinking also, and he most likely has a wideband of some kind. I'm thinking those are the two items requiring the extra wiring down the drivers side by the a/c lines.
