Well the deal i got on a 7cm housing here from a member on tuners fell through so im right back to where i was on trying to find a 7cm housing. I found a couple and one seller on ebay told me that i should really get a 20g exhaust wheel since he`s selling a FP sleeper 16g housing. Will this housing work for the 14b?

Most likely the sleeper16g had a tdo6h exhaust wheel which the housing would be too big for the td05h wheel. Yes then youd have to get the bigger wheel and rebuild your turbo. And a tdo6h on a 14b is overkill

i pmed you L&SDSM. Yeah I would seriously consider an upgrade because youll probably be bored with the 14b pretty quick. Look for a used 16g which can be had for a good price

What the hell? OMG Yeah a TD06 turbine housing would work GREAT on a 14B. :notgood: I believe it would look something like this:

The person who told you that obviously knows nothing about the item he's selling. You need a turbine housing for TD05H turbine....that could come from a 14B (6cm2), 16G (7cm2), 18G (7cm2), or SOME 20G's (7cm2).

The housing you have looks to be in decent shape, why not port it to 7cm2 and install the bigger flapper if the cracks around the wastegate hole scare you?

It looked like there were some pretty big cracks on the inlet of his turbine housing and not just the wastegate. Jusmx141, do you think the inlet cracks will post a problem? He may be able to polish them out too.

I disagree...it depend on your goals. 14b can go low 12's and faster and is plenty fun to run on the street. I've seen plenty of 16g cars that can't run mid 12's, depends on your tuning ability. Putting a bigger turbo on does not necessarily make your car faster.

Those cracks are from rapid expansion and contraction on daily-driven cars and are totally normal on Mitsu housings. Out of 30-35 MHI turbos that are at my shop right now, I don't have a single turbine housing in my possession that is completely crack-free. If you have a used housing and it's crack-free, you're lucky.

The high-nickel Evo III housings are a different story. They rarely (if ever) crack, but the bolt holes strip easier as the casting is softer. HeliCoil installation is almost mandatory in Evo III turbine housings.

Bottom line....if the cracks don't go the whole way through the housing (visible from the outside), there's no reason it shouldn't be ported and installed. It will be fine.

Yeah thats true. I have never seen a 14b turbine that didnt have any cracks. My one 14b that had 177k miles had a decent amount of cracks, no shaft play and boosted 20psi no problem

Well also jusmx141, i thought i had a place to port my turbo but my buddy`s air compressor took a crap on him so thats why im looking for a new exhaust housing (yet another problem to add into the mix ) and plus im looking for just an ease of installation here too. And i know you guys said it would work but im just double and triple checking just in case, so i found another housing (hopefully there will be no porting at all involved on this one) on ebay that might suite me pretty good. Check it out and give your opinions: (sorry to be such a pain about this)

eBay knockoff Evo III turbine housing.

The actuator lever is in a different place and has a bigger mounting pin, you may need to shim your actuator a bit and modify the actuator arm to make this housing work.

There is also the issue of most of the knockoff eBay 16G's don't have the locating pin drilled for the center housing. It's not a huge problem....you just have to be careful to make sure everything is lined up properly before you tighted down the v-band.

I've used these eBay Evo III housings on 14B's before and they worked fine after a little bit of creative modification. It's nothing serious, but it won't hook directly to the wastegate arm like a MHI housing would.

Modify the arm how? Making it longer? or bending it a certain way?]

That piece of scrap has two busted bolts in it, and the seller has no clue what he's selling so I'd steer clear. Visually, the turbine outlet appears far too large for a TD05H turbine, although photos can be deceiving.

If I didn't despise porting so much, I'd tell you to throw your housing in a box and ship it to me and I'd get it done....but porting sucks, and I don't like to do it more than absolutely necessary.
