hey guys I have a problem... I learned the hard way that you get what you pay for... I bought a cheap imitation greddy type-r bov and it broke it was leaking boost at high rpms, well I had it recirculating to the intake and when it broke I didnt have a blow off and this is my daily driver... a Friend of mine gave me a used SARD bov and it was in fairlly good shape but it had jb weld covering the top of it... I guess where the regulator use to be and I had to put my stock upper intercooller pipeing back in because of the flange now my problem is the following the bov is imposible to recirculate to the intake and my t-25 is suffering with compressor serge on low boost any where from 1-8 psi on my gauge it will fluter above that it open fine I have no money right now and cant afford a bov what can I do... can I drive it like this until I have enouph money or do I need to get a blow off asap... My idle is fine and it gose through the gears like a champ no sputering or back fiering or nothing like that.. its running good. What do I do... by the way my car is an automatic ... dont know if it matters or not.

Just keep your foot out of it for now until you get a new one. I'm having the same problem except I had a decent BOV before it popped. At the end of the month I'm picking up a synctronic so I don't have to worry about a diapragm blowing out anymore.

all right man thanks ... that sounds doable, what I currently doing is I am not letting it get between 1-8 psi... eather lower or higher but not letting it fluter

Well you could always turn the boost down. If you are running 8 psi max, you shouldn't have to worry about running too rich since 0 boost isn't much less fuel. It sucks when you can't spool up right doesn't it?

Okay, I just read that again. I would stay away from higher boost, too. If it is having trouble in the 1-8 range, going higher than that could finish the job. If you want to save a part, don't push it.

Its not haveing any trobble at all its just whene I let off the gas between 1-8 psi the bov dosent open and the turbo flutters .... I was spikeing 17psi and holding 13 when the cheap bov started leaking now I set the boost down to about 15 spike and a stable11-12... not very fun but stuff happens... thanks for the info.

weird cause it shouldn't matter too much on an auto. since it doesn't vent in between shifts, I am running an RFL and it doesn't recirculate, and I have no problems whatsoever..mine is auto too

it onlly happens when I let off the gas and the boost pressure is low and in miami the trafic sucks so I am in this situation allot........ I dont want to kill my little t-25, It may be small but its the only turbo I have so it has to last me.:thumb:

Well, an engine rebuild and turbo upgrade is in my car's near future, so I will have a 16g freed up. Going with a GT35R. We will have to see if we can get you hooked up. I have saved your profile in my favorites, so when I get to where I am about to swap, I'll give you a holler.

what happened to your stock BOV? i would put it back on till you get enough $ to buy a real greddy bov.
it flutters like that because of the vac line that goes to the Intake manifold. mine was doing the same when that nipple broke on my stock BOV.

That sounds great man I would really appreciate that.... keep me posted.

my stock bov got ran over.... I was working at my uncles house when I took it off and I set it asside with the stock pipeing when I was puting on the upper hard pipe and my SMART cousin drove in next to me and crushed it with his cow expedition:toobad: but stuff happens I guess.... I want to get an HKS but Im thinking about geting the 1g with the upgrade.

I agree with the 1g BOV and a 2g/1g adapter. I got my 1g BOV from eBay for $25. I'm not sure how much the adapter is, but it can't be much. Then you can use the stock recirc tube. And when you do finally start upgrading and increasing boost, you'll have a BOV that'll hold to 18psi stock and higher if you do the "Dodge Mod" or crush it.

EDIT: Here's one adapter ($30 seems a bit rediculous, though)

Another from Dejon for the same-ish price (scroll down 2/3 of the way):

I'm looking for the "good" tech article for crushing a 1g BOV, and I'll post it when I find it. Here's one on this forum for the time being...not as good as the one I'm looking for though.

Sorry, can't find it. Maybe someone else has the link. The page I'm thinking of goes into using a vaccuum tester to find out when you've crushed it enough...
But the basic idea is that you have a BOV that has a spring in it that's up against a diaphragm. There is a shaft connected to the center of that diaphragm that connects to a valve. The valve is what lets boost recirculate out of the intercooler pipe back into the intake pipe. The mod is to literally crush the BOV so that the spring is more compressed than normal. This pushes the diaphragm harder which holds the valve closed moreso than the uncrushed BOV. But you can over- and under-crush the BOV. That's why you use a vaccuum tester and connect it to the BOV nipple and see what vaccuum is required to open the valve as you incrementally crush it. The page I was looking for gives you vaccuum tester values to watch for so you know when you've crushed it enough. Somene post the link I'm thining of, please :p. You can also Google "1g BOV crush" or "1g BOV crushed" like I did to get a better idea of what I'm talking about. Maybe using different search terms will get you to the page I'm trying to find.

thanks for the info man will be looking for a 1g when I get my income tax :D

dude i got an evo BOV for 40$ shipped. no adapter, no extra anything... pops right in like stock. i got an evo MR BOV so its metal. but im sure you can pick up a regular evo BOV thats almost identical to the stock one. they hold 20+PSI. cheap as hell and direct replacement. OEM reliability and you can still use it till you really up the boost.

try ebay or the evo forums. or find a stock 2g bov and flip it. i hear they hold infinit amounts of boost like that.

thanks for that info man.... I will look for one of those evo bovs... didnt think of that before, but thats why Im the new guy and your the pros
