Hey guys,
I looked everywhere but i didn't find an answer.
How do you turn the top nipple of the 1g bov? Mine is straight and i've seen some that are angled to the side.

Mine is like this:

I want it to be like this:

I know it's not that import, but I'm installing it on a 2g and it would look much better and the routing would be better if it was sideways.
Thanks!

I can see the first link but second link doesn't work.

I know you can buy rubber 90 degree vacuum( like this ) hose bends which is probably the best option if you're determined. I believe the top of the 1g bov's use pretty thin stamped metal, so I wouldn't attempt to bend it unless you have a spare one lying around. Also, if you bent the nipple, you would run the risk of making a more restrictive airway causing a less responsive pressure dump; each time you shift while under boost, the butterfly valve in the throttle body shuts, the pressure difference in your intake and UICP causes the BOV to open; If it fails to open (clogged vac line or too severe of a bend in the BOV nipple) there is a reverberation of pressure that slams against the compressor wheel of your turbo; over time this can cause damage.

Fixed the link!
Yes, I've tried to bend it but it doesn't work very well...
How come some of the bovs are turned sideways are some don't?
There must be a way...

thanks for the quick replies by the way!

Ideally to bend a pipe without it crimping you need to put something inside it to keep the walls from collapsing. It really depends on how sharp of a bend you want to make and the wall thickness.

If it was me, I would put a welding rod inside it and slide the box end of a combination wrench over the nipple and bend it however I needed it. A 14mm wrench would probably work. Break the flux off the rod first. It looks like a 5/32" rod should work. It should bend to a 90* with no problem. It will probably bend without collapsing if you don't have a welding rod laying around though...

That 90 degree rubber is a good option, but i will only do that if i can't find any other way. I have a bov in my car right now and i'm not in a hurry to install this one.

I'm assuming that you're talking about the 1g BOV that has the angled nipple. Its hard to tell since your second link doesn't work. They actually come from the factory that way. They were installed on the ABS-equipped cars because the vacuum hose hits the ABS bracket with the straight nipple BOV, the one pictured in the first link. I know this because I have an ABS-equipped 1G and swapped out OE BOV's thinking they were both the same until the signal vacuum hose developed a massive hole from rubbing on the ABS mounting bracket.

It's really easy to bend only the nipple. But if you look closely at the second picture, you can see that the entire top end of the bov (the dark green/gray area) is turned sideways!

Hmm I tought i had fixed that link... anyway, yes that's the one i'm talking about... it's angled slighty to the right(in the pic). Well, i didn't know about that difference in 1gs... so maybe there's no way to turn it around... :|

I wouldn't bend the nipple, it will break or like mcrae stated before, it will make a very bad restriction.

The only thing that comes to my mind is, turn the BOV upside down and take a look at the BOV Cap (where the nipple is attached to), try to open or loose it up, so the cap will be loose and be able to turn, you can use some big pliers to turn the cap side to what ever position you want.

Here is a red line where you have to open or break loose the cap to be able to turn it.

Hope it works.

I've tought of that, but it's sealed really tight. I'm afraid it would leak if i try to lose that lid, wouldn't it?
I guess i will just use what i have, it's not a big deal anyway.
