n/t rods and pistons

Of course they do, look on the classifieds, you can most likely find someone on here that wrote off their car but the engind still runs fine. Just get new rod bearings if you plan on throwing in a set of used rods and pistons, also a new set of rings.

Yeah they will as long as you keep your boost lower then 9psi. i turbod a 94 n/t it ran good at 9psi but as soon as i turned up the boost, I Bent a rod and decided to go with 6 bolt turbo

He has 6bolt rods. I doubt he'll bend a rod.

The n/t pistons will handle great power, but NO detonation. This will cause the ringlands to crack since they are weaker.

Hell yea the n/t pistons r strong enough 2 hold a 14b turbo just make sure u get the stock knock sensor nd wire it into ## ecu if its not there alrdy that way ull make sure u got somthing 2 watch ## detonation in ## combusiton chamber I turbod 3 n/t motors in my backyard nd so far thy all went well..the car I got now is a 93 nt talon that been turbo with a td05 16g but I think its only holdn up ### of the new fuel system I put in it. It holds about 10-12psi well I only keep it thr ### this is my daily driver

how hard is it to turbo a na cause i have a full gst block ripped apart in my garage 14b and all. i would like to put the 14b on my 93 gs, i grenade d the stock 7 bolt and dropped in a 6 bolt na

To reiterate what dsm-onster stated: On the N/T 4G63 piston, the top land is much thinner to bring the top ring closer to the piston deck. The thinner land won't hold up to detonation nearly as well as the thicker top land on the turbo pistons.

And the N/T 4G63 rods are the same as the turbo 4G63 rods. You're probably doing something wrong if you're bending them with a 14b.

right i under stand that the ring seats r closer to the top which equals weaker piston, and to top it off the rings them selves are thinner. What im asking is to reduce the chance of excessive detonation and still pull the most out of the setup in my case n/t to turbo w stage two cams right off the go would be in a good tuning. Right?

Which also brings me to my question that still hasnt been covered is are 264/272 cams too much for a 14b? For the record i havent bent any rods, yet.

and or i could just not be lazy and put my stock turbo pistons in.

does the n/a block have the oil squirt rs like the turbo blocks

No, the non turbo block does not have oil squirters.

That is a very good link for getting all the part together that you will need to do it. Is there DIY for the actual install?? i searched but kept getting that. Im just wondering if say the smic bolt up points are there on my n/as body. That and the wiring that needs to be added, i havent searched that yet im sure theres one for that. Thank you

is it a big problem that the n/a block doese not have the oil squirters?

is it a big problem that the n/a block doese not have the oil squirters

They are used for cooling the piston crowns under hard acceleration. They are typically not necessary with aftermarket forged pistons. Many still use them though. Also many have also used stock turbo pistons without squirters with no problems. It is a debatable issue either way.
N/t blocks can be drilled and tapped to put them in as well

"Thank you, I've been digging through boxes of my dsm parts to find my old pistons to make that exact same point. Bottom line the nt's fire control ring is closer to the action than the turbo piston's. I've been saying this for years, it's why I have turbo pistons in an nt block in my car right now, and it's why countless other have broken ringlands on their nt pistons when pushing them too hard.

I'm glad to see someone finally came on here and proved the truth as I was having a hard time coming up with the resources to do it myself." Mavisky

From that link and the fact mavisky stated that he has broken lots of N/T pistons leads me to beleive that maybe the turbo pistons you have would be better suited for what your trying to do. 9 psi will be hard to sit at, once you start boosting you'll want to turn it up....
