I have a 97 gst Im new to imports,turbo cars, and also lack car knowledge. But more about my car its not stock I know that much its got a front mount intercooler and all the piping 16g from a evo 3 adjustable cam gears,turbo timer, greddy boost gauge its not in lbs tho..., aem a/f and some other apexi thing im not sure what it is or does for that matter? also Its running rich is that most likely a need of tune lemme know what you guys think

Is the other Apexi thing have SAFC writen on it? If so that's how the car is tuned. How many Bar does the boost gauge read when boosting? What is your AEM wideband saying while boosting?

yes, it does and I havent been able to really get out and drive it but on the boost gauge it gets to about 500mm when Im sitting and rev it up

You sure it's 500mm? Not 5mm/hg? Does the boost gauge ever hit PSI? A picture would definitely help. But your not going to build boost from revving the engine so you'll actually have to out and drive to find that out.

Like I said, the SAFC is how the car is tuned. It alters the airflow signal from the MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor) in order to get the right A/F ratio. Which leads me to the next question: How do you know the car is running rich? Is it just rich at idle, does it stumble under boost, etc? What does your AEM wideband read at idle?

Pictures will definately help out. Like WES said, take your car out and drive it under boost, WOT and see how much boost it reads, also take a look at your a/f. Do you know what injectors you have?

yeah it says 500 and when I looked up the conversion to lbs its 9psi and I figured since the bov was going off it was building boost..? and I think its running rich bc theres this black stuff left on the spark plugs which lead me to beleive its running rich bc of unburned fuel (the black stuff) and I dont know what my idle is supposed to be its really late here but I can check in the morning and let you know and know when I was able to drive it it boosted just fine and is a wideband the af ratio? but whats keeping me from driving it now is that I changed my slave cyl bc I was having probs getting into gear and it cranking well the slave change fixed the cranking issues but not it going into gear still I didnt bleed it really good bc I didnt know what I was doing could it not be being bled really well cause it to not go into gear or is this now the master slave? and no your not prying your trying to help

Yes, the AEM gauge is the A/F ratio. Does the gauge have actual numbers to display or just different colored lights? If it has numbers, you want to be between roughly 10.8 and 11.1. I've personally never seen a boost gauge with 500mm on it so that's a new one for me! .

Does it make any grinding noises or it just won't go into gear? I would say either the master cylinder or the adjustment rod isn't adjusted correctly. Here's a video for how to adjust the clutch. Try that and see if you get any results. If not it might be the master cylinder unfortunately.

Yes it has numbers.. and no it doesn't grind just won't go into gear

Be very careful when messing with a turbo car. They are very easy to break if you don't know what you're doing or cut corners. Either take your time and learn, or take it to someone who know what they are doing. I'd aim for 11.7:1 a/f under wot.

If you go to Apexi website they have a manual for the SAFC or you can google it. Just make sure you know what you have either a SAFC I or SAFC II? That will help for the tuning a bit. Thats weird that the boost gauge is not in lbs. Just random. Do you have a closer pic of that gauge? Thanks man

Can you also get a pic of the turbo? The only turbo I've personally seen blow off from revving is a t25.

I'm pretty sure it's bar also, but if he is pushing 500 bar I want that engine . I'm guessing there is probably .500 which it there way of saying 1/2, but I could be wrong. But 500 bar would be ridiculous considering if iirc 1 bar is ~13psi.
