I just recently bought a 99 Eclipse GS-T and am looking to find out from other GS-T owners what kind of potential i am looking at. So far i love the car and have been a long time 2g lover i just wish to know what to realistically looking forward to so if anyone could shine some light i would really appreciate it.

I myself have a 1g gsx, however each car is different when it comes to performance. Id start with going to the tech tab and look under upgrade path to get you started. I didnt look at your profile for mods so I am going to assum yours is stock. Its hard to tell you exactly what you will gain. But if you have enouhg money and know how, the possibilities are endless just about!

motor and power wise there is no limit to the 4g63. with a gst your only issues are gonna be traction, fwd ftl. but still easily faster than anything the VTACK guys are gonna throw at you

like everyone said your limit will depend on how much cash you have and what you want to do with the car, there are tons of free mods and low budget mods you can do to these cars that will really increase your power, the main things to consider are fuel upgrades, and making the turbo breathe better, but the sky is the limit it is up to you. good luck

For the love of God check your timing belt and balance shaft belt just to make sure no bent valves are in your future. Like the upgrade paths say the first step is maintainence. Im sure you want that car to last :)

Please dont discourage people from FWD. They have their perks too. :thumb:

well thank you for the input all my goal is to get to at least 300 whp in due time most likely the very first thing i am going to spend big money on is i am going to rebuild the engine from the bottom up and upgrade to a bigger turbo after doing so and doing it correctly. :dsm:

I don't think this is the smartest or best path you can take. Putting a built motor with a big turbo is what everyone wants to do right away. In reality you'd be better off going this route:

6bolt swap
DSMLink v3
fuel system upgrades
intake/exhaust
turbo system
cams

...when you hit the limit of that setup you will be well past your 300hp mark and you can do that reliably too.

Do some research, many have taking the 6 bolt a long way on stock internals.

Like everyones said do your maintenance, full tune up.FWD isnt a bad thing you can waste an AWD goin down the freeway. 6 bolt swap would be a good idea. try and do some free mods then follow your upgrade path. dont forget about the suspension and brakes though!

yea guys, i own a awd and am trying to find someone to trade me a fwd. i don''t race any more, so i do not need awd.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Guys he has a 99. A 6 bolt swap isn't necessary. Like everyone said, do maintenance first, mods second. Make sure your engine is healthy. 300whp isn't hard to obtain, especially with FWD. Get a 16g, walbro 255, mbc, 650cc injectors, turbo back exhaust, and a tuning device and boom your there. There is no need to even take the valve cover off for 300whp.

Oh, and get a clutch, because the stock one isn't going to like the extra torque for very long.

I'm going to say:

3" full exhaust
MHI 20g or 50 trim turbo
DSM Link v3, or just use your stock reflashable ecu
AEM Wideband
Ebay Intake
bigger injectors (680cc +) and fuel pump (at least a Walbro 190)

Then get a good dyno tune and blow the doors off random things.

:thumb::thumb: +1 Thats a great path

If it's a 5 speed get ready for crank walk and broken transmissions.

*Sorry just saw it was a 99, never mind.

well I don't know why a Mod hasn't shut this thread down, it's full of easily searchable questions, there are posted upgrade paths, age old threads about what mods equal what horsepower, there are searchable dyno chart logs from members and 1/4 mile times as far as potential go, why did everyone start responding with they're favorite setup/old opinions to such a dumb question?

Crank walk is over exaggerated like Cleveland says. Everyone will give you a different opinion on upgrade paths like Spyder says. I think the only thing everyone will agree on is doing all your maintenance first.
