Ok so two months ago I snapped my stock turbos shaft in half. The exhaust turbine was just chillin in the o2 housing. Don't know what happens. Well I got a 16g and a tubular header two weeks ago off a friend cheap. It was great no play at all he had used it for a year before he wrecked his talon. Well I put it on mine and all was good. Well today I go out and start it and let it warm up and drive off every things normal. I have to give it a little to get out in to traffic and notice a weird noise then it goes away. Later I gave it a little boost and it's whining bad. I go straight home. Let it cool down and check for shaft play and it's bad. What could make a car eat up turbos.

ok i dont know if this is true but i heard i have to pull the engine to drop my oil pan becouse the tcase is in the way please tell me this is not true. if not ill start this week end

also another stupid question just for my information would a bad bearing cause my low oil pressure issue as well.

It is a lot easier to just drop the transfer case don't you think? You will also have to drop the downpipe, and remove the driver axle.

If you want to get this taken care of the right way, then you should just pull the engine out now. If any metal is in your oil then you have a pretty nasty internal issue.

Just curious where were you feeding your turbo from?

If you fed it from the head that might explain the oil starvation to it (not high enough oil pressure getting to the head)

The transfer case is really not hard to take off either. The driver's side axle will be a bigger pain than the tcase.

Yep, t-case and dp have to come off. DP is 19mm, T-case is 17mm. I just did this 4 times last week.

I've been feeding my 14b from the head with no feed issues. 20w-50 oil too.

The material is most likely from the eaten turbo's that were mentioned in the title of the thread. It's pretty simple to drop the pan and check the bearings out.

I was kind of referring to a beginning low oil pressure. I was not implying that putting the feel line on the head was bad, just possibly in this situation.

If oil pressure is supposed to be... lets say 50psi at 3k rpm's with the feed line from the ofh the turbo would get 45 ish psi? And if oil pressure was at 30 psi due to this guy's issue, and fed from the head (wich I believe is lower pressure than the ofh) then it would cause the starvation that people are presuming happened?

Not true, I have removed my oil pan on more than one occasion without taking the axle out. A little persuasion with a pry bar is all it takes to get an extension up there to get the two bolts behind the axle. You do have to remove the bolts that bolt the axle to the block to allow it the slack it needs however.

Excessive bearing clearance is the #1 cause of low oil pressure.

Yea dude idk, that is really bad luck, or definitely an oil problem. I would try to get a different turbo to test it because depending on how long you had it, turbos shouldn't get shaftplay even with little to no oil, so idk otherwise though. Good luck, and i might even consider taking it to a shop that specializes in dsms/imports that is reputable if you are desperate. good luck:pray:

well thank you very much every one sounds like i have quite a path to go down ive been wanting to reduild it for a while now cus ive had nothing but problems but for now im gona just stick with finding the issueand wait till tax season and rebuild it.
