Wanting a motor mount kit like the Prothanes but I don't wanna get a kit with the inserts. Anyone know of a place that makes them? I'm getting a lot of phantom knock with my solid front and rear mounts. They need to go :(
Thanks.

Just give a company like Prothane a call and see what they can do for you as far as making a bushing that will go in place of the rubber in a stock mount. They DO do stuff by dimensions. I'm sure there are people who would sell you worn out stock mounts for really cheap. I don't know why Prothane insists on making a nice kit for the 1g but they give the 2g people the stupid side inserts.

Not enough. Lol. But I still don't wanna worry about it.

Guess I'll have to look up a number for them later today and discuss it and see what they can do for me. I'll post back after I talk to them.

So, back to those RockAuto mounts, were they truly that terrible? What kind of duty where they seeing? I was very confident in my cost-senstive 3M plan, but if the mounts are just going to destroy themselves that's huge waste of time.
Do we know of a reasonable source for true OEM replacements?

I don't even think OEM Mounts last any longer than the mounts sold at auto parts stores. I once bought all of the 4 mounts from the mitsu dealer and like a month later my engine had already started to move once again and the bushing were already starting to rip apart :ohdamn:

Well, you already know the time frame that they lasted me. And I never really launch hard because I'm still fwd at the moment and it's pointless to me to just roast my tires and have to buy more. If you filled them with that window weld or whatever the crap it's called it might help. But otherwise, they're just garbage.

Where did you see those mounts I posted for that price?

I'm sure that the $399 is a MAP(minimum advertised price) if you ad them to your cart you'll see that the price changes... . $319.98 - $32.00 = 287.92 Not sure what happen overnight but the price changed a bit...

Seriously^

But all I can say is Oh well I don't live in PA an I'm not buying them hell this thread isn't even about you... But, really I Don't see them anywhere else that cheap... an Extreme Psi is a great vendor.

Well I bought my Avid mounts from punishment racing for $325 shipped, so extreme psi is still cheaper

When I got the package it had an extremepsi.com label LOL :hmm:.... if your local to extreme psi I think it would actually be a better Idea to order them thru punishment racing if they are out of state since you wont be paying taxes for them.

I just got off the phone with Prothane. I started talking to some girl and I guess she transferred me because I finished talking and there was just silence. I was about to hangup but then a guy got on the phone. So I asked him if they could make them without the side inserts. My answer, "No". So alrighty.

Would LOVE it if I could get JUST the rear mount out of those expensive $300 kits. Cause that's the only mount I really want anyway. Wanna keep my solid front mount. Just not the rear. Back to the drawing board.

Would someone mind measuring the diameter of the rear mount on a 1g so I can see if the 1g kit would at least work?

well if someone actually did needed all 4 mounts replaced, $300 dollars isn't really that expensive because you will actually be spending about the same amount if you were to jsut get stock replacement.

How is the vibration with a solid front mount?

Order a section of 75A urethane and have it machined to fit and a bolt hole drilled and then pressed in.

Where would I order it from?

With just the front mount, I don't feel any vibration at all. As soon as I added the rear one though, yeah, it shakes. I don't mind the vibration, but I don't care for the phantom knock.

Ok im going to ask a newb question LOL.....

How can you tell when you have phantom knock? what exactly are the symptoms?

I'm seeing knock (on my laptop with Ecmlink) with very light throttle, not even in boost. And it's killing my power because when the ecu thinks you have knock, it pulls timing. And I'm getting 6 degrees or more of knock. In Ecmlink, you can change the settings to where the ecu will ignore knock below a certain rpm or throttle position. That's great and all but if you have "real" knock, you won't know it.

You have to have some sort of logging device to know you're getting it. Any kind of noise that the knock sensor can pick up such as noisy lifters, etc. can be mistaken for real knock because the knock sensor is listening for noise and the vibration I'm getting, I believe is being picked up as knock.

I have mine programmed to flash the check engine light at anything over 2 degrees of knock. With a stock ecu, no, it won't.....not that I've ever seen anyway.

Polyurethane 75A Durometer Solid Rod | U.S. Plastic Corp.

Or just search Google as I'm sure there's a bunch of other places out there to order it from.

Thanks for the link but looking at that link, I'd need to get the 3" or 4" size and that's freakin expensive stuff right there. Holy moly!!! OMG

I'm sure you could get a few mounts cut from the rod and then just sell them on the classifieds :thumb:

Yeah, I'm discussing it with him already. Just the time that bugs me. Lol. I'm ready to order something now, but may have to just go this route if I can't find anything else.
