You gotta remove the insides of your mounts including the steel ring. A torch usually works the best. You can remove the inside steel ring with a sawzall and a chisel/hammer. It can also be pressed out by your local machine shop.

Place the inserts inside the mount and you're done. :rocks:

im using the same once the sides and front and back, they all work great, my motor didnt move a inch

The front and rear are simple. Just press them by hand into the sides of the existing mount and the urethane should fill all of the void bewteen the rubber. For 2G mounts, this is the only urethane solution. They don't make a full replacement like the side mounts...

FYI - On the 1G's at least, the rear insert is also a solid insert. At least it was on the set I bought. Only the front still uses the hard outer inserts that sit next to the stock rubber. Are the 2G's still solid only on the sides?

You guys might want to take a look at this, about half way down. Or you may not. :)

the front and rear mounts have a few cracks on them, from age. While they were in the car, I felt the engine 'dance' back and forth everytime I gave it gas and let off bacause of this.
Should I replace the mounts before using the inserts or are they good enough keep? The rubber is not completely shot but they are visibly cracked.

Yup. That is how they differ.

I wouldn't worry about it. The front and rear mounts are only roll stops. Just install those urethane pieces and you should see an improvement.

I know this is an old thread but my front mounts rubber is completely ripped at both connection points, the rubber is still in there. Could i still use the inserts or should I buy or do I need to buy a new mount?

The front & rear torque mount inserts are designed to work with a completely intact stock mount, so no a ripped stock mount wouldn't be ideal. From my experience, those inserts seem pretty useless with a good stock mount anyways. If you want a real, descent mount, look at the complete replacements from Avid racing. They are solid urthane for a 4 mounts & a much better setup IMO.

i saw a kit recently for a 1g, not sure if it was energy or prothane, where all 4 mounts were solid pieces and not the weird shaped "inserts" that just work with the stock rubber. anyone know about this? and yes, i'm sure it was brand name.

The 1G Prothane kit replaces all 4 mounts. The 2G Prothane kit replaces 2 and has inserts for 2.

i ran into a problem i have the prothanes and the inserts for the rear roll stopper wont fit it is like the rubber on the rear mount is too much any ideas?
