How difficult is it to install these motor mount inserts? Do you have to do any machine work? Can you just hold the engine up with a block of wood and a jackstand?

(I'm new to this)

Motor mounts!

I have a '93 1.8, does anyone know if they will fit? I want to get the whole kit.

Thanks:thumb:

i did it in my driveway 2.0 though not sure of the differences b/t 1.8&2.0
instead of having the factory ones pressed out i just cut the rubber middle out and then slit the metal sleeve with a hacksaw and finally knocked the sleeve out with a hammer and chisel. the prothane inserts press in by hand

I ordered a set of prothanes yesterday :) So, if ya just cut the crap outta the old rubber in the mounts you can just pop it out really easily? That would be nice. Then the 3 full replacement mounts should just slide into the mount and be lined correctly no probs? You like?

hope you have a nice set of prybars too. it might be rough getting everything lined up once the inserts are in. i've had the motor/trans out about 4-5 times now and i'm used to it. its a 1g too don't forget ...good luck:thumb:

Would it be possible to just put a jack and block of wood under the oil pan and then do the mounts one at a time? I dont have an engine hoist or anyting....

Thanks so far:thumb: :dsm:

Exactly however the rear is a bi*** to get to. Since i gotta pull my trans anyway for replacement it will be easier to get that one.

I think ima use a hack saw a big flat-head srew driver and a hammer to bust out the old rubber, hopefully that will work

maybe its just me but i had a hell of a time getting the mounts out. i used an air chisel? to get the sleeve out of the mounts.

My prothanes arrived today. DiamondStarMotorSport is having a march sale of $70 plus about $10 shipping

Anyways I got only the front in so far, and the 2 inserts that go onto the existing mount didnt go in to well, so i just crammed it in the best i could and put it all back togeather. Anyone else have probs with the front?
