I looked but they only make them for 90-94. I need them for a 98. And preferrably, not spend $400 on the things. I had my solid mounts made for free. Free is good, but phantom knock is bad.

And how do you know the solid mounts are what's causing the phantom knock? I've never heard of this happening before.

In other platforms I have heard of it causing Phantom knock but most times it just makes a different problem more obvious because the motor no longer has the slop to cover the other issues.

Well, I didn't have the knock until I installed them. I threw in the BPR7's but that didn't help. I can be at part throttle and get knock. This only happened after installing my solid "metal" motor mounts.

I would suggest not making your own. I did it 5yrs ago and car has not been driven in four. During my current overhaul of the car I discovered upon dis-assembly the mounts had basically fallen apart. Im sure others have had good results just I did not.

Potentially could be bad gas, or a retard mixed the tanks up.
Trust me, i've dealt with my fair share of PK.

I was going to recommend a couple gallons of race gas/ or switching gas stations.

Is your knock sum maxed out when it does it? Whats the count?

What are your Knock Sensor Control values in link currently set at (on ALS/Knock tab)? I usually recommend them being set at 3500 RPM's and at least 30-35% TPS, if not more.

I get 6 degrees of knock under light throttle. I had to change it to around 4500 rpm I think and 50% throttle but I don't like this setting. The knock came on like the next day or so after installing the rear mount.

Oh yeah, and I had the front solid mount in with no problem. But as soon as I put the rear solid mount in (because the rear stock mount was totally shot), that's when I started having the problem.

My next suggestion is to make sure the knock sensor is in there tight if you haven't done so already. I've heard of plenty of people even having it out 2 threads or so and it giving them all kinds of problems.

Otherwise - rock an aftermarket oem replacement rear motor mount - its not life or death - like you'll loose so much without ONE stiffer motor mount.

I've gone through 3 of them that have broken. Motor flopping around all over is a big deal to me. Why are you thinking it's not phantom knock? Also, I said 6 degrees of knock. Not 6 counts of knock. And I'm getting it at very light loads.

I'm of a similar opinion. I've had many encounters with PK and while it has been mild before, normally when PK hits my logger will read " -eleventybillionº " for timing instead of a healthy positive number.

RockAuto has the best rates on OEM replacement mounts. I'm filling mine with 3M WindoWeld. I did it to my front and rear mounts 4 years ago and it's still going strong. The two sides, though, have basically disintegrated so they'll be getting replaced and filled with the 3M goodness.

That's where I bought my mounts and they're crap. I bought one set and the front AND rear both died after maybe 2 or 3 months. The second set lasted for maybe a month. MAYBE a month anyway.

I need something soon though. I'm looking on MAPerformance's website for the Prothane mounts and the 1g has full replacements whereas the 2g has inserts. They "look" the same diameter but the side mounts and different sizes. Anyone know if the 1g and 2g front and rear mounts are about the same size? If so, I can just use the 1g front and rears. But I doubt I can be that lucky.

Because I don't wanna have to buy a stock motor mount, put inserts on each side of it, and still end up breaking the mount. I wanna replace all the stock rubber like the 1g kits do. And I don't wanna pay a fortune JUST for mounts either.
