more problems with my talon =[

my talon runs and drives good but every once in awhile when u slow down it drops down under 500rpm then almost dies but kicks back on and stays running and now when it idles the oil light keeps coming on at random rpms anywhere from 500-2500 im stuck and have no clue what it could be

I would clean the throttle plate off to try and fix the almost dying down problem, and I also would check the oil pressure sending unit too.

Where does it normally idle at? Like if you just start it up and let it get warmed up where will it idle?

it usually idles anywhere from 800-1k i just cant figure out why it wants to die and the oil light comes on at random rpms even tho i have fine oil pressure and everything

The oil pressure issue may just be a faulty sending unit. Which is my guess.

well everytime the oil light comes on thats when it stalls out

no not yet .im pretty sure its the oil pressure sending unit im gonna look at it tomorrow

It almost sounds like your pick-up screen might be clogged up. I dont know if these motors have a bypass or but but even if it does then it will be just sucking up gunk. it might be a shot in the dark but the same thing was happening to an old buddies civic.

could be your oil pump gears are worn and not meshing properly and slowing the rpms down since it is turned by the timing belt. This is a common sign of a dying oil pump in other cars.

idk yet im gonna hook up an oil pressure gauge to it tomorrow and see if it actually has good pressure and im gonna replace the sending unit and if that donst help then idk

i figured out what it was once i got under the car ...my oil pressure sending unit had a huge crack in it and it was leaking oil which made my oil light come on
