I have a MBC, Its brand is "joe p IL series" (came with car) well I turned it up to about 15 pounds about 2 weeks ago and today when i was drivng I gave her a go in second and WOW what a difference. for some reason it hit 1.5 bars! i turned it way down (so i thought) and did it again, it didnt change, I took it off and tightened it up all the way and put it back on and still running about 1.3 bars. WHAT CAN I DO TO TURN THE BOOST DOWN!? Do I need a new boost controller?

check the install... i know its probably hard to mess up since you can only put it on two ways, you'd be surprised though.

if its the mbc then take it off and control boost from your wga, 10psi on those 16g's! :thumb: if it still climbs then what your seeing is boost creep...

:dsm:

Make sure(double check if you must) that all of your vaccum lines are still intact..:)

I took my mbc off and drove it without anything on there, and I still hit 1.5 bars.
im sure you know... 1.5bar = 21.75psi.
sounds like a classic case of tdo5 boost creep. it says 3" exhaust in the modifications section of your profile so ive got two questions...
1. is this 3"dp / cat delete / 3" cat back? or just 3" cat back and still running the stock dp and catalytic converter?

2. how does it get to 1.5bar? does it hold at .7bar (10psi) until 4500 rpm and then creep to 1.5?

You sir have a nice case of boost creep...I too am experiencing the SAME problems....I have gone thru 4 MBCs thinking it was them...but then later I read that if you have bigger then 2.5" exhaust while using a e316 (what I am using with 3" exhaust from turbo back) that the larger exhaust will make for some uncontrolled boost. I have only my WG hooked up straight to the vacuum manifold (i know its not the preferred spot) and I see 20psi + all day long...and it holds it too...the screamer pipe starts yelling at ~10psi and it goes on up to 20psi + at WOT until i breach past 7k RPM....port your exhaust housing if you haven't, drop your exhaust size if its 3", upgrade your flapper, or just smile each time you get into it....

It's 3" mandrel bent downpipe, 3" highflow cat, 3" mandrel bent exhaust. I updated my mod profile.

who called it! unfortunately for you 21lbs is NOT what you want to be running on your stock fuel setup. you've got a few options, its your car and your overall goals should effect your decision...

1. run an external wastegate off of the exhaust manifold low boost
2. upgrade your fuel setup and use your dsmlink v2 to tune to 1.5bar
or
3. replace your 3" dp and 3" cat back to stock form and walk away

the reason why this is happening...
when your running a 16g with an exhaust setup that you've got the exhaust will take the path of least resistance (similar to water or electricity) in your case thats across the turbine wheel even when your wga has completely opened the flapper.

im assuming that because your running a 16g its in your plans to run 20psi so you already plan on running bigger injectors and a fuel pump. you've already got dsmlink so put in bigger injectors and a better fp and tune your car to 1.5bar using link.

I dont really want to run 21psi on the stock bottom end, I'll probably burn a hole in one of the pistons or worse... Well it doesnt just creep up or anything. I'll mash it and it'll stay at 19-21psi all day. And how come this happened all the sudden?

Found your post. first, running 21psi on the stock bottom should not be a problem. 21 psi on a stock head gasket and stock head bolts may be a problem! if you have a internal waste gate i would say the problem might be with the waste gate not opening properly. thats where i would start.
you really should invest in a ext. waste gate. and then start working on a better fuel set up. depending on what your goals are your going to need a fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and at the very least those evo injectors. "i would go with 660's to get the most out of that turbo" and lastly a new head gasket and arp studs.
i used to run 25 psi all day on my evo III 16g with arp studs and a comp. hg. with stock bottom end.

well i am having the same problem and i have a 20g tubular manifold 3ich downpipe,680cc injectors brand new waste gate same for turbo,255 fuel pump, manual boost controler, and afc neo
i have tried everything and still in same spot. NOT to but in but maybe between the 2 of us we can both fix our problems.
