Ok so i just purchased my first DSM a 1992 plymouth laser turbo and i love it i'm done with driving honda's, now to the question i purchased the car two days ago and besides a few things wrong with it that were easily fix like worn out caum hoses and bad exhaust gaskets the car runs great the problem is the previous owner install a manual boost controller thats mounted inside the car the problem is it dosen't seem right i looked at the vacum diagram and a question cam up on any normal boost controller there two line that run to it I.E. a inlet and outlet port but with the one he has installed just connects to a t fittling in between the hose to the bov and then the esingle hose runs inside to a valve that has a knob on it to adjust boost my main question is the entire time i'm driving when i'm not making a lot of boost there's a hissing sound coming from it and when i'm making boost air sucks thru a big hole in the valve back thru the vacum lines is this supposed to happen it would seem like this would cause a vacum leak since at idle the hole in the side of the valve is sucking in air i'm new to having a turbo vehicle so i'm not sure how a manual boost controller works but in order to drive the car i have to have the knob all the way up even then it shows i'm at like 18psi if i turn the knob in just a little the car hit's fuel cut around 5,000 rpm so any info would be great guy's i also have to find a new recirculating hose since he had the freaking bov vent to the atmosphere.

The "." button is under the L button on your keyboard and may help make your posts a little easier to read. Use it at the end of sentences. Just a heads up for future reference. ;)

Here is the proper way to hook up a boost controller:

1. The inlet for the MBC (pressure source) should connect to a nipple on the J-pipe of an intercooler pipe (S-pipe for T25/T28) OR a nipple on the compressor housing.
2. The outlet of the MBC should connect to the nipple on the wastegate actuator.

That's it. No BOV line involved. Take the tee out of the BOV line and hook up the MBC in the manner I described. It sounds like the previous owner made a really weird home-made boost controller. By "running inside" do you mean that the knob/valve is actually inside the cabin? If so, you'll want to run as short of vacuum lines as you can with an MBC. In other words, most people just zip-tie/bracket their MBC's to a fan shroud spar or some other structure near the turbo to keep the lines short. Short lines=fast response and less hassle.

If it turns out that the boost controller you currently have can't be hooked up in the normal way, I would recommend getting your hands on a reputable boost controller, i.e. Hallman, Joe P., TurboXS, etc. Many DSM'ers have had bad issues with the Turbosmart MBC, as well as the ebay clones of them, so try to stay away from those.

Thank's man yeah the boost controller is mounted in side and it only has one place to put a vacum line on so yeah i need to get a new MBC thanks for the info.
