Well ive decided to go with a stock 6bolt for now and put the 2.4 on the back burner so i saw the "rebuilt" 6bolt on karking.com and it seems to be a pretty good price of 1,150.

What do you guys think is there anywere cheaper or better and does anyone have any info on this karking?

thanx :thumb:

Oil leak is still there, and got the compression done... 160, 155, 145, 150.

George might be a good guy, but with all the stuff that's gone wrong with this shortblock, I doubt that I'd go to him again. The engine speaks for itself (and hesitates, loses oil AND WATER NOW, going through about a liter or two a week)...

One of the primary reasons I decided not to go with karking was that they basically clean and reassemble the block with a rebuild kit. You are not getting any machine work on the block at all. All his rebuilt 4g63 motors are std bore rebuilds. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is. I am looking at overbore.com, although $2500 for a stock rebuild seems steep to me as well.

Well, here's my Kar King experience. I bought a shortblock from them and it looked pretty good. George insisted its ALL OEM parts. Its not.

-George said they "delete" oil squirters. Wrong. They assemble NON turbo blocks that dont have oil squirters.
-George said all the parts were Mitsu OEM. Wrong again. After talking with him, he meant to say, they are LIKE OEM. We had an argument about "ROCK". He said that "ROCK=OEM. Rock manufactures OEM parts for Mitsubishi.

-oil pump case is not OEM. Its "Rock". The Rock oil case failed, gears locked up and blew my motor up in 149 miles. He insisted it was OEM with OEM gaskets. They were cereal box cardboard cut outs.

-no provisions for a knock sensor. He said he forgot to drill/tap a spot in the stock location. I had to find a spot for it. I really enjoyed that.

-rear balance shaft is cut and welded shut all crooked and unbalanced.

NONE of the parts were OEM at all. They are used/reconditioned parts on a STD bore. Go ahead and ask him to get ur block bored over and see what he says. He doesn't even have the tools, or the knowledge to bore over a motor.

When I asked him about the OEM parts he replies, "We use whatever we got on the shelf. If we have OEM in stock, we use it, if we have ROCK, we use that because they are basically the same." Nice George, I got a bargain bin engine with surprise parts in it.

The only good thing I have to say is I got my money back and he paid for shipping.

And he offered me used ROCK valves to replace my bent ones.

Junk parts caused a Junk motor to fail. I considered switching out the case for OEM, but I figured it should work for now. Wrong again.

And the motor had WAY TOO MUCH oil pressure. My gauge was pegged at idle. Made my car smoke like a chimney.

Other than that, Kar King builds great motors.

DAMN, wish i would have read this reply before i just spent 1500 dollars without sending them my old motor. he was telling me that they use oem water pump, oil pump, and pistons. was he lieing to me? as soon as i get the motor im cracking the head to use arp's and a metal head gaskets. any thoughts about cracking the head open as soon as i get it?

thanks tuners

totaljdm.com, complete swap's (i believe) don't hold it to me but last time i checked JDM 4g63 was 1399.00

Given that most JDM motors are junkyard blocks, I still don't understand why so many people hold them up on such high pedestals... especially with the 4g63t.
Though part of that may just be needing the california emissions BS on mine, making a legal JDM not easily (if at all) possible.

Yeah guys i was witness to all of this disaster i think we got pics of the mess somewhere. Also i bet i would have done better job with drill-type hone job then they did, to kar king :notgood:

Yeah, he just posted an ad for crankshafts. I happen to be needing one. But I'm not gonna chance it. Who knows where he is getting them? China maybe? LOL

He is selling "brand new" crankshafts for like $300

Who knows when it comes to those guys, youll order it and theyll call you and tell you there website was wrong and its 3,000 not 300 :toobad:

thanks for the wonderful review guys !!!
when our company does great no one says anything
when a few mistakes are made or when new parts fail and then everyone makes the biggest deal but i know for a fact we do the right thing ... for broken tsi i sold him a block true told him i use oem and rock parts un fortunately at that moment i had rock oil pumps waiting on the oem ones coming from overseas and my builder slipped and didn't drill and tap the knock sensor hole ... he was also informed agout the oil squirters being eliminated no lies going on here guys just good business and unfortunately we had a problem and he't right the pump locked up i'm sorry for that but what he doesn't mention is that i was promp to pick up my block and refund him 100 percent ... now about talesin dude he never bought anything from me direct and failed to mention that i just sit back and read his nonsense he bought the car he has from a dude we installed a rebuilt engine from us and good only knows how many miles the previous owner put on it before selling it to talesin ???? he called me before purchasing it asking about honoring oil leaks and simple things like that?? i didn't hesitate when he told me who he bought it from he came in here in person and we worked on his car and never charged him anything .... but i guess that makes me a bad guy also.. and for "mr. crankshaft from china" i told him before buying anything from me to check into my quality with people i deal with on a regular basis and i told him road race engineering in santa fe springs calif
millennium motorsports in temecula calif
extreme motorsports in odenton maryland
ontario mitsubishi in ontario calif
norco mitsubishi in norco calif
now as yourself do these people use chinese crankshafts?????????
sorry for the long post but i just had to say something hard to read one sided post
and keep my mouth shut ....
thanks to all the dsmtuners that are appreciative of our services.......

I knew about the oil squirters. There is a big difference between "deleting them", and using a completely different block that never has them in the first place!

Thats called lying. Thats BAD business.

Thanks to ROCK parts, my car is now parted out and will never be driven again.

I pulled apart that oil case and I never seen so many metal shavings from an oil pump in my life. I couldn't even rotate the pump with a breaker bar.

Yeah, a 100% refund is great and all, thanks, but damn dude, you're attitude about it was "Oh well, whatever".

I was never going to say anything about this situation until I hear about others having similar problems.

I must have called you 40 times and asked about the parts used. The answers I got were, they are all OEM. Then after I got the block I called you many times to ease my mind, and I got answers about ROCK parts. I already had the block so there was really nothing I could do.

In all honestly, the motor didn't look all that bad. I'm sure you guys have motors that run just fine.

In my honest opinion, I think you should build motors with genuine OEM parts and UP the price a little bit. Go tell ROCK to go choke on an egg roll In China and stick to what works, not what is cheap.
