I personally don't see the point in getting either when I can get a BIG filter and a MAS adapter for $50 and I don't have a prob with IC piping clearance and it does do the same thing as the FIPK.

Where can you get a MAS adapter? I needed to change the air filter and thought I might as well but a less-restrictive one on since I was already planning on modding the car. Also...if I got the MAS adapter, would I be able to use a regular K&N filter that you would usually drop in? or would I need something else?

I'm trying to upgrade my stock 2g intake with a higher performance, but affordable alternative.

I want to keep price relatively low, but I also don't want to get something cheap, then have to replace it later as I upgrade again. So... either something that will work all the way up the tree, or something that is compatible with future upgrades/add-ons to avoid paying twice for the same thing...

I have looked at Injen intake systems, F&N standard/FIPK setups (FIPK does not replace the intake pipe??), and HKS High-Flow systems... and want some advice on which system to go with.

Best price/performance balance please!

Thanks guys!

will9000 nah.. i wouldnt go with the injen.. based on whwat he is looking for.. and situations are different since ur n/t and he is turbo..

go for the Dejon Tool intake pipes.. with open element air filter

http://www.dejontool.web.aplus.net/New 2g intake Pipes.htm

if you decide to get an injen intake now.. and get a bigger turbo in the future (which i assume ur not going to stay with the sh1Ttty t25) the diameter of the injen pipe will be too small.. and you'll prob. end up getting a dejon pipe anyways.. so do it right the first time..

i'm already set to getting a dejon 3" intake/inlet pipe.. i already have an open element air filter.. i'm still on the stock t25. so in the mean time i'm going to have to get a reducer to fit the inlet of the turbo.. u can talk to dejon about that if they can supply the ncessary couplings and watnot..

good luck

Can I get the K&N FIPK now, then replace the intake pipe later?

Assuming I went with a Dejon 3" (or Injen or whatever) at some later point, it would still work well with a K&N FIPK, right?

Or is there is cheaper, better solution?

jesterbot.. yea.. u can get just the filter now.. and replace the pipe later.. the will all have to attached the MAS anyways.. unless u run vpc/standalone then thats when you might have to change the entire intake setup.. but thats a whole different story..

a cheaper better solution? make ur own intake pipe..

Go to dave brode's web page (find ot on www.vfaq.com in the intake section) and read up on how to mod your own intake pipe for like 20 bux to give you a hard intake and eliminate the BOV return tube. Take this route until you are ready to step up to the dejontool or whatever.

I noticed that many owners of @nd gen. 2.0L turbo engines have the FIPK air filter on their cars. Have any of you SERIOUSLY felt that you gained any HP using these? I found with Honda's, the only intakes that outperfomed the factory one was the AEM Cold Air intake. Since the FIPK sits in the engine bay I am skeptical that you would gain any power as these types of filters usually lost power in my old Honda B16A engine as the intake air temperature increases which is a detriment. I don't care about looks either.

heck, it even sounds better on my N/A, gives it a sharper pitch, i like it.

For $30, who can argue.. i got about 2MPG better, pays for itself pretty much.

By all means any open eliment filter will benifit you with more airflow. if your concerned that much with air temps in the engine bay, build a ram air compartment for around the filter. Go on VFAQ, theres an article on how to do it.

yes...its is dyno proven buy people on this board that it alone gives increases in hp. Why? Because it FLOWS more air which is what turbo cars need...more air=more power. and the temp of the air doesn't matter too much cause the turbo heats the #### out of it anyway...what would matter if it was a 20 degree difference it still gains power. if your worried about air temp then get a front mount

ask yourself this question..."why would i really need a cold air intake for my turbo car if i have a fat fmic cooling down the air before it enters the intake mani?" that should help out a bit in your question that hot air is detrimental to the performance.

Do it right the first time sometimes also means the economical choice. The injen will LOOK better but do yourself a favor and save that moeny for something that will help somewhere else. Performance is the key, performance then looks.

I just bought the FIPK for my car and will later get the intake for a better price than the injen kit. I know your NT and all but save those extra $ and get more for your money (or atleast the same).

about the Dejontool intake, if it replaces just the stock intake piping, then I should be able to buy a universal HKS mega flow filter or K&N filter that will fit??? Cause if it fits the stock air filter then I'm assuming.

I have a 2G MAS conversion on my galant vr4, and I'm using the K&N FIPK kit for the 2G cars. I was wondering if I can buy a replacement K&N filter that fits w/o buying the whole kit again.

I remember looking around in K&N side, and can't find the correct model number for the filter.
Thanks in advance.
