K&N FIPK? [Merged 9-7] intake filter adapter kn

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Either pipe would be good but I would ditch either filter for a Apexi, they flow better and are better a filtering dirt and what not, it was test proven against the blitz, k&n, and the hks. If you want it proven then I can find the website and give you the link.

Ok, I got on the horn with Dejon Tool.. Basically, they have rubber rings which they fit onto the inlet on the turbo to gap the space between the intake and inlet. 3" here I come!!

Do you have to specially ask for that or does it just come with it? Order it? I want to get the same thing but I also have the stock turbo and I couldnt find anything out about the fitting piece for the t25. So when you talked to him, how do you get it with your intake?

I would just call up Dejon Tool and buy it over the phone, that way you won't be missing anything when you buy.

essentially they are both the same thing. you can get a pretty intake pipe from dejontool also, but it isn't needed until you upgrade your turbo. i have the k&n FIPK and a dejontool 3 inch intake pipe. but if your just looking for an intake, they are both a cone filter with an adapter to your MAF. i've had my K&N for a few years now and have never had a problem.

i think you should go ahead and get an intake from dejon.. the k&n fpik is just that.. a filter.. i would get the dejon 3" intake pipe along with the k&n filter option.. you can always get the injen one.. but if your planning to get a bigger turbo in the future.. might as well be prepared for it.. it wont hurt to get a bigger pipe before hand.. just my .02

well that is kinda cheap. not a bad deal. the mas adaptor looks like it's stamped instead of the billet/cast aluminum ones.

i dunno for the money i'd say give it a try, if it sucks you'll be out what? 24 bucks.

I have something VERY similar and noticed decreased lag and it sounds more PSssht whens it spools, I am planning on getting a cold air box from [email protected] , you can get pics of it at www.vfaq.com under intakes. You do not need the heat shield but it makes the air colder which is better for performance. The intake you where looking at looks REALLY restrictive because the plastic shield covers most of the intake.

The combo I suggest totals 65.50$ shipped to your door. 33.50 for filter and adapter and 32$ for the Heat shield. Much better than the 140$ FIPK

Just spend the few dollars and get a K & N.

-------------MILLION MILE WARRANTY------------------------

or a POS no name fliter for half price.
 save that $40 bucks
Its not like your air quality is important.

damn.. i dont know about that filter from procarparts.. also the intake adapter looks cheap.. ive seen these filters at pepboys/kragens.. its shaped like the hks ssqv bov.. LOL.

u dont have to go witht he k&n fipk.. but don't go with that funky looking procarparts one either..

i got mine from ebay.. for about the same price.. but my intake adapter was of the billet/aluminum .. and the filter was like the one from the link RayTsi provided.. ive had no problems with it..

well im looking for a intake sysytem i know lots of the people are using k&n fipk's why are they better than a injen intake system ?? i have a 1990 eagle talon NT just got it a few month 3 mabye ago so far i have put in a new clucth kit :D and short throw shifter which helped alot and outher so far ricer mods stero system cd player gaskets front engin mount replace wire lume under hood sprayed the valve cover 10mm spark wires new plugs mainly maintnce stuff :(.Replaced head liner carpet and currently re apolstering interior with tweed nothing for speed yet but in the near futur wanted to "clean " up the inside from the rubber dirty brown look ill post pic soon as i finish tweeding the dash hopfully this weekend looking for some bolt ons intake and cat back exhust so far only ones i have found that fit are the K&N fipk and the injen intake at www.injen.com/mitsubish/html i duno tell me what u think would be best Ohh yeah i replaced the capictors on the ECU as well since they were going bad its a start not bad for 3 months i guess i know i know all ricer stuff but i figured when i start doin the engin drive train i wanted everything to be "clean " its nice to win its better to win and look good :)

The main difference is the K&N is just the filter as oppose to the Injen, which is the filter AND the pipe. With the Injen you'll be able to hear your turbo spool and that great BOV sound. If your worried about price you can try www.dejontool.com intake. The dejontool intake is bigger than the injen one so if you plan on ugrading your turbo you won't have to get a bigger pipe.

what is the difference of the regular K and N filter that fits on a 2nd gen (that claims to directly fit onto the mas) vs. the K and N fipk kit??? the first one is 50 bucks while the second is 120??? what is the deal???

The fipk replaces the intake tube down to the turbo while the filter just goes in place of the stock airbox.

personally i would just get the filter and cut the compressor bypass tube inside the intake its cheaper and relatively the same thing

have you ever looked down the intake tube where the bov is routed their is a tube running all the way down that directs the air into the turbo its very restrictive

Seriously, do some reading before trying to give advice! A normal K&N replaces your stock filter, but still is in the restrictive little intake box. The FIPK replaces the intake box, it does not replace the intake tube. You do not NEED to hack the BOV dump, or the "bypass tube" although I would recommend doing it. It doesn't really do anything for power from what I noticed, but It made my BOV sound louder. If you just get the K&N "Drop in" filter and cut the BOV dump it will do nowhere near the same thing (for HP) as the FIPK. I personally don't see the point in getting either when I can get a BIG filter and a MAS adapter for $50 and I don't have a prob with IC piping clearance and it does do the same thing as the FIPK.

i did the free mod with cutting the dump tube.. this was when i first got my car and was eager to do anything i can to make it faster..

now that i think about it.. if your going to replace the stock accordian style intake/inlet pipe.. dont cut the tube.. cause ull end up replacing the entire pipe anyways thus hacking the tube worthless..

as for the filter.. i think any open element cone filter will have the same results as the fpik.. i got my cone filter and adapter from ebay for 30-40 bucks..

the fpik does not replace anything but the airbox.. u could also get an injen intake which can be included with a intake/inlet pipe..

wat i would personally do.. and on the verge of doing.. is getting a dejontool 3" inlet/intake pipe with reducer to fit stock t25.. with the open element cone air filter i have on it.. this way.. when i get a big turbo.. i dont really have to get a bigger inlet pipe cause the 3" should be more than enough :)
