Ok so i just recieved 8500 from an insurance company for a vehicle that got stolen from me back in 2008. My car is bone stock 92 talon tsi awd automatic. I want to make 500 whp. What all should i get to achieve my goals? :rocks:

Buy a built dsm, part it out, buy two built dsm's, part them out, etc.....
Once you have a certain amount of $ from doing this buy a nice daily with good resale value. with Whatever money you have left over buy a clean stock dsm then have your fun building it knowing you have a nice dd sitting in your driveway.

wow.. two years to get money from the insurance company..

As for the money, if it were in my hand i would be dumping it all into my car. But everyone is completly different.. Some ppl say that is alot of money to be putting into a 20 year old car.. Others ask why you havent spent it all yet..

Just whateveryou do make sure you have everything planned out before you just start throwing money around!

Good luck man:thumb:

1. Your stock block can handle 500hp for a while. Why build it unless it's broken?
2. Walbro 255HP
3. FIC 1150 injectors
4. FP 68HTA turbo (remove internal WG)
5. Evo III exhaust manifold
6. VRS FMIC
7. Forge BOV
8. Tial 38mm WG
9. 3" turbo back exhaust with WG dump
10. DSMlink
11. Full line pressure mod
12. Manual shift box
13. Restalled
14. 4" FP Intake pipe
15. Punishment racing O2 housing for Tial 38mm

Should be able to hit 500hp and also be pretty reliable to drive on the street if needed.

People need to stop talkin shit and give the man what he wants. He doesnt want your criticism. He wants a 500 awhp automatic dsm. Hes got 8 grand to spend on it. So you think automatics not the best platform? so what, hes got the money to make it the best platform. So you all need to stop bashing and just give him a platform to start on.

Gettin sick of you guys always tryin to 1up each other, or make each other look stupid.

Thank You!!! Right to the point.. Like that!!

As far as WRX goes... That tranny is made out if glass. Only conceivable way to get 500 hp and still be able to make it last for more than a few trips around the block would be to swap in a sti tranny.
I don't know of a better platform to throw that much hp at and still be able to drive it every day than a awd Dsm. Did the op want 500awhp? Now that's a horse of a different color but 500 crank hp is pretty managable. And fairly easy to drive. FP 68hta all the way.
In the past I've always been a staunch standard transmission supporter especially on an awd Dsm. It's just plain fun. Especially since I like to autocross and roadrace. But look at Lucas English and his wife running low 10s on fp 68hta and automatic tranny! That's impressive! Makes me realize there's plenty of potential in auto awd Dsm platform. I think autos awd dsms have posted times in the 9s as well all day and very consistantly.

Get a built IPT trans, billet converter,2.3 stroker wiseco piston eagle rods, Unported head with SS valves and FP springs,fp4r cams, and a BW S259 bolt on housing, FP exhaust manifold.

ECMlink V3 Speed density with some 1250cc FIC injectors. You would spend 5g's but run 10's all day long.

Agreed. Maybe a little larger injectors. Probably spend more like $7-8k to get all that with a build motor and trans. the Engine alone will probably be $4-5 depending on where/how you get it. Turbo is $1200+ everything else

Ya im still debating whether to do the manual conversion or not. This is only the 2nd automatic car I have ever owned the rest have been manual! One reason why im considering keeping it though is the constant boost! Thats a huge benefit. And im thinking to the wheels..

Its frankly extremely immature to blow 9 grand into a 800$ car. The only reason I have upgraded my car is when shit breaks i fix and upgrade it. If i had 8.5k up front like the OP i would have bought a way better car than a 1994 eagle talon.

The reason I suggested a WRX is the fact that subaru's have been around for quite a while, I have seen many many subarus come through my work with 200k+ mileage and run strong every day.DSM, on the other hand are extremely temperamental, very finicky, and tend to breakdown more than they run (general census). Subarus do tend to have a higher resale value even for the same year of dsm. WRX is AWD, Turbo, Standard Tranny, And had a beautifully built pancake motor. Which If anyone knew anything about a motor will agree that. Let me ask you a question;out of everybody you have told that you drive an eagle talon, how many people said...."uhhh.....ok" or "uhhh......whats that" There is a reason DSM isn't around anymore, and subaru still is.

And then on top of it all supravw also suggested a different vehicle all together after getting on me about it. :ohdamn:

It's immature to "blow" 9k on a dsm. But not on a WRX, vette, mustang, etc? ROFL It sounds like you should sell your dsm, it deserves a better owner.

Your comparing Subaru the company to DSM's, you realize that right? Your also comparing a 20 y/o car to a 6 y/o car. Wow you've seen subaru's with 200k miles that came in for service, there's plenty of DSM's with that kind of mileage. :banghead:

I simply suggested a way better platform then a WRX if the OP wanted a different car. Which he doesn't. I've yet to see you do anything to help the OP with his question. :toobad:

OP- Yes I was talking about ecmlink. I'd stay away from BC cams, they aren't degree-ed in as well at the factory as other cams. Pick up some old HKS's, some FP cams or a lot of people are raving about the Kelford. As far as people saying auto is going to suck, take a look on the ecmlink forums. Autos are not only going to be more streetable, they break less parts, are more consistent and are never out of boost. :thumb:

DSM Dyno Challenge - Highest Horsepower

Look up the horsepower you want to make and start looking at the types of parts people in that range needed.

You're going to want a transmission cooler, a shift kit, and possibly a restalled converter. Give IPT a call as far as transmission stuff goes.

Everyone keeps telling you the engine side of stuff, but you're also going to want a suspension that can help put that power down, and some tires to make it stick. Don't forget those.

Man look its your car. Drop every penny in it, and have a 600whp machine for the street. If i had that much, i'd buy another dsm for about 1600(one with some problems) and build it godly. Then i will have two DSMs. One which is semi fast, and one where it has gotten to a level where its not a toy anymore. But Research some parts, get some numbers in, DSMlink or AEM, and have fun.

before you go out and buy all these parts do some research on them also make a list and see how much its gonna cost. good luck with your car im dropping like around 7k in mine so dont let people tell you wrong

I think you're on the wrong forum then. Most people on here believe these are good cars regardless of age or they wouldn't be here. The site is called DSMTuners not DSM drive it casually until it brakes or you can afford a better car. If you're not a DSM enthusiast that's fine, but don't try to tell people on a forum full of them that they aren't good cars.

Sorry to the OP for getting off topic again, but good luck with the build.

I think 94'TSI'AWD should be banned :thumb: Hes obviously a subie enthusiast and his goal on tuners is to get people out of dsms.

Anyways you need to come up with a build plan for the engine and do it right the first time, it MIGHT hold 500 hp for a while but you dont know how long. itd be stupid not to build the motor while everything else is getting done. One thing you really need to look at is compression ratios and which one suites you best. This is gunna be a street/strip car am i right?

Your right, buying a wrx won't get him a 500hp car. But go ahead and build yourself a 500hp dsm, wind up 10 feet in a tree. 500hp is hard to handle on the street if its properly done, trust me.

Im just saying when it comes time to get something different or trade it in on something bigger you wont get anything for it, even with 500hp. I was saying get a wrx or something with a better resale value or a better build platform than a 20 year old car. entirely up to you, but i know if i had 8.5k to spend i would buy me something a lot newer.

What is this a 500whp dsm cant be handled on the street easily?
It gets more insane at WOT yes but properly tuned, drivability at 500whp will be about the same intown as it would be at 200 or 300whp

Yes its going to be a street/strip monster! I want to show up all the pos civics running around town. =) I just got done reading the wiseco thread so im not going to be going with that company on any pistons. idk if i should do a 2.0 or 2.4 stroker. Leaning more towards a 2.0 built block with maybe a fpFP3065 Ball Bearing Turbocharger...
