Is this FP manifold fixable?

So the other day my car got pretty hot when my 16g's coolant hoses rubbed together and split.
I noticed that my FP manifold had cracked as well. it doesn't look like it went all the way through. will this be fine or can I weld the cracks?

Oh that sucks, have you messaged them to let them know as i see more and more cracks in these in the last few years,

It looks fine to weld up but just preheat it as its cast and will crack more otherwise,

I actually bought the manifold exactly 1 year ago on cyber monday. I'll probably drill a hole on each side of the Crack and grind a V into it and weld from there. what kind of welder should I use? MIG? SMAW?

I'd get ahold of FP and see what they think. If it was a year ago they might work with you on fixing it. Plus if they do fix it they might warranty the weld work. No guarantees but it couldn't hurt.

Im with them guys, if its 1 year today they wont care about 1 day out of warranty and they would help, or should do as they do stand behind their products, give them ago first before you weld it up, and as for which type of welding! its best for tig as you can penetrate better and concentrate in that area, if you are to weld it aswell cool it in an oven slowly, fast cooling on cast make stress points and can crack again!

Of course im sure they will replace it anyway so you wont have to weld it but the advice is there incase

Mig or Tig. I got mine welded up when I bought it, over ported the outlet flange and ground right through the casting. Welded it up with a tig, never had a problem. That was 2014. (68hta and FP manifold)..

I had mine crack out of warranty. FP would not replace it but they did give me a discounted price on a new one. Definitely worth getting in contact with them.

I tig welded my manifold, i forgot which filler I used. I preheated the manifold , after grinding out both ends of the crack and just filled her up and threw the manifold in a bucket of sand. After i let it cool slowly I took a carbide burr to smooth it out. No cracks so far, I peened the shit out of it..... Im no expert but it worked for me.

that part is cast, you need a high nickel content filler material if it is going to be welded, If you have it welded it needs to be done by a real professional, there will be more cracks on the way im sure, It would be best to get a quality stainless steel manifold

When I do repairs like that we preheat and use a high nickel rod with our stick welder. You also need to let it cool slowly. We have high temp heat blankets

Getting muggy weld 77 electrode works awesome for cast. There's also a 99 (forgot brand) that works good. With the 77 rod you don't have to pre-heat or anything.

try to weld it, that manifold is pretty thick
worst case you have to buy a new one, if it works you have a spare

@JackStieben, I'm curious as to what FP had to say about it cracking in a year! They should do good business practice and send you a replacement one imo. Good customer service = REPEAT HAPPY CUSTOMERS and the best free advertisement any company would love to have.

I emailed FP and I have still yet to receive a response! I did attempt to fix the manifold though. I am currently in school for welding and I had the guy in charge weld it for me. One of the sides there's a surface crack but light doesn't shine through it so it might be okay for a little while. We ground the cracks to form a slope towards the inside layer for penetration, preheated it with an oxy-fuel torch, he MIG'd it (unsure of specific filler he had), then we placed it in a oven to slowly cool down.
It's hard to say if it work or crack again until I run the manifold. However, I'm still a ways away from finishing my build so I won't be able to inform y'all if it cracks until later down the road.

The replacement idea would be awesome.
Rather give my $ to you rather than them if I was going that route or needed something better than stock and equal to or better than the FP mani. I have one in what appears to be good shape but with all the problems the op is having is making me nervous. Good to know there might be another option and I KNOW QUALITY WONT BE AN ISSUE! I use sharks with fricking laser beams attached to their fricking heads, to weld supermissile rod of course

That Muggy 77 electrode that DSMkauai posted is pretty bad ass, no preheating required for cast. But with this engine build in full swing, my new turbo might just need a new manifold. Still need to decide what turbo to go with. I wanted to fix this FP manifold so I could just get something like a red or black, But nothing is set in stone yet.
