FP Race manifold heat shield?

Anyone here making their own heat shields for the FP Race Manifold now that JM Fabrications is no longer making them? I have been looking for one to float around on the classifieds but haven't seen any so i was wondering if any of you have made your own? If so can i see pictures of your setup so i might be able to replicate it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I been wondering the same thing. I been trying to find an extra heat shield to try to experiment with. This way the smog guy don't trip.

I used my OEM heat shield. I just expanded it a little with some pliers to make it fit around the FP mani and then used a u-bolt to hold it on. It's definitely the farmer's method, but I'm not looking to win any car shows.

FP actually advises against coating their manifold. I plan on heat wrapping then covering up the ugliness with a heat shield. So none of you have made your own heat shield?

Not to thread jack, but this is the first time I have ever heard you should not have the FP manifold coated. I am curious because I have one that has been sandblasted.. Its pretty ugly, .

^ +1. I'm curious as to why it's a bad idea as well. It certainly can't be a worse idea than wrapping it.

A friend of mine, being the type of by the book guy he is, called FP asking if it would be alright to get his manifold swaine ceramic coated and they told him they would advise against going that path. I don't know the specifics but the gist of the coversation is that they warn against doing so. I personally don't see why they say not too but i didn't design it either so who knows.

Well I have mine swain tech coated and its been done before by others. I'll let you guys know how well it does by end of summer. Even if it does crack, no loss really since they're always having sales and at less than $200, they're a steal.

When I talked with someome at FP, he mentioned coating weakened it. I had it coated anyway

I wonder of the non-bake type coatings looker cerakote apply to this. But, then again, I don't know if swain is a bake type coating or not
