Hey guys I’m wondering if it’s worth putting the upgraded crank cradle on my 6 bolt ? How many of you run it and is it a must do for a 400 to 450 hp weekend car? Also pros and cons would be great thanks!

I went with one as well, but luckily I took my block to a competent machine shop that didn’t screw up the line bore hone/assembly :thumb: I wouldn’t think you would need it tho for 400-450hp:idontknow:

I feel personally attacked by this LOL

Just because the shop I took my shit to screwed up the line hone after installing one half of the girdle upside down, even though it was given to them installed correctly, doesn't mean.. uhh something something.
They somehow could run a shop but not do something considered pretty basic.

I too sort of followed the masses and recommendations about the girdle after a certain power threshold. It's one of those items that you won't ever know if it actually made a difference, nor can you blame it when your engine fails, but you can praise it when it doesn't. Sounds like a certain invisible diety who remains blameless in bad times only.

I'm am curious as to why Mitsu engineers decided to make such a drastic design change starting with the first 7bolts by going to the full girdled design. They figured the three piece needed to go, even though there weren't any known problems at the time, and that's when they started upping the power.
Shrug, run one or don't, it seems.

Someone more knowledgeable can chime in, but I remember reading on main cap fretting or some sort of flexing goin on down there under certain conditions, again the girdle sounded like a nice upgrade for added strength to the bottom end, but as Jason Drew mentioned you don’t HAVE to have one to make power, but like you said it’s nice knowing you have it LOL
