Hello all
impretty new here, but i have searched around for answers beforehand. let me start by talking about the build i bought myself into. its a 97 gsx in about as many pieces as you can think of. anyway, it has a 6 bolt block and crank, but 7 bolt eagle rods and 22mm pin pistons. i have read that the rod journal width on the 6 bolt is slightly wider than the 7 bolt, which i believe may have let to the engine spinning the #1 rod bearing.i have read about people using 6 bolt cranks in 7 bolt blocks but since i have an extra good 7 bolt crank laying around my question is can i use a 7 bolt crank with 7 bolt rods and pistons in a 6 bolt block? thank you

No.

Without some farely extensive machine work it's not happening. The rear main seal area is also vastly different.

Are you sure the rods aren't 6 bolt rods drilled for a 22mm pin? There would be sizeable rod side play visible to the naked eye with 7 bolt rods on a 6 bolt crank.

the rods are eagle CRS-5900-MBA, which a rep told me are for the 22mm 7 bolt

i have never seen the rotating assembly put together

I guess the OP just has a 6 bolt swap. 5900MBA is for 6 bolt.

Indeed it seems so. In that case I'd say poor clearances or something dirty was the cause.

@Cory045 do you have any pictures of this setup and said spun bearing?

This is from eagle, so that's why I assumed it was for a 7 bolt

I think the rep got confused or just a mistake.
