I want to drill and tap for 2 separate ports. One for boost gauge which is currently T’d to fpr, and one for SD map sensor. Any objections to these two spots? Think I’ll use the far left for boost gauge.

    Thanks
    Tony

I changed my mind. Want to be able to check for boost leaks so how about these two spots?

Kevin Jewer made a post on the link forums stating he's had issue with that bottom right spot, or any spot, that is directly opposite a runner. Apparently it causes noise in the reading. This is in reference to your first post.

I wouldn't tap anything in a curved area like that, if thats your idea, that area is thin also, the one to the left is fine, the other one I would put up on the plenum somewhere.

Going with the hose two spots. Bottom of plenum is hard to get to with a normal drill

I tilted the mani so all the shavings stay in the plenum and used a shop vac while drilling to keep clean up a breeze. Very little got in the runner by they weren’t an issue to remove. Thanks iugrad!

When I had a 1G manifold I taped into the middle support boss on the bottom into the third cylinder.

This was unneeded. There are fewports with plugs in them already on the 1g manifold. The hole sizes are 1/8 bstp. A much better and more permanent solution. It still baffles me when people try to run and trust tapping thing walked tubing and castings.

There is no room on the drivers side and the passengers side will be under the throttle body. Please explain what’s wrong with tapping the manifold?

Both of those ports are easily accessible. Because you did not choose to be creative is not my issue. We have used those ports on numerous cars with numerous setups.

The casting is not thick enough to get a quality amount of threads tapped into it. Not much different than someone trying to do the same thing with a thin walled intercooler pipe.

It doesn’t matter what I think anyway. It is your car and your choice to do as you please. If it fails then you were warned. I have been doing this for 20 years. I am not talking out of my ass for the hell of it.
