Hi, I'm in the process of putting my motor together. I just received my 272's from Delta, and new oem cam seals.

I was wondering if the cam seals install flush against the inner cam cap (push the cam seal in until you can't push it anymore) or flush against the cam cap? Also, does the cam seal have to be positioned correctly?

Not to say that you did this, but be sure to put one #10 washer (included with the regrinds) under each lifter. This will make up for the amount of material that was taken off the lobe.

Yea those shims are installed correctly, and new 3g lifters are bled properly (bled them suckers 3 times, which took nearly 2 hours to do) peace of mind I guess.

You know what I'll just post pics of the cam seals. you tell me which is option is the proper way to install them so you guys have a better idea.

Okay, pic one is flush against the head or pic 2 sits flush inside the caps

Use a little RTV around the outer lip of the cam seal when installing it to fill any gaps between the seal and the cam cap, then wipe the excess once you torque the cap down.

When I say a little RTV, I mean very little.

What Delta 272 cams? The HKS or the Kelford style ones?

What valve springs are on the head?

Yes, that was included with the agreement with my machinist to check the valve springs for any wears or fatigue, they tested out better then the evo sets I have originally bought for this mild build, the evo sets I have, have roughly around 140k or so miles on it and the springs I have on the motor came from a low mileage crate engine I bought locally from a used motor company.

Okay just got done installing the cams, thanks guys.
