Delta Camshaft 4G63 272 Cams (Preview to review)

well just like anything else you heard that is recommended for 272s applies for these i assume. i however am running stock. of course people have different views. i dont plan to raise the rev limit too high. but more power to you if you can upgrade everything else in the process.

Well this is making me want to get these cams also but i think im gona keep the same springs and just change the lifters while i am at it.

I'm doing the same thing. I have 3G lifters and am looking into these cams. Hmmmm! Stock springs should be ok right?

Stock springs will be good as long as you keep the revs in the low 7k rpm range

^As long as you are using a spring that is compatible with the original cam's specs, a regrind of the same cam will be fine with those same approved springs. HKS cams are all compatible with stock springs, it's recommended that the springs be upgraded if you run their 280 duration cams, but they are still compatible. The reason it's recommended to upgrade with their 280's is not necessarily because of the ramp rate but because of the power range of these cams is higher in the rpm band and stock springs may start floating at those higher rpms. Anyone serious enough to run 280's will likely not be bothered by needing better springs.

These Delta cams seem like a good deal.

I called a local company in Vancouver, Wa called Oregon Cam Grinding and they only offer 1 grind for dsms and its a copy of the Crower 64413 which is 272/272 and the cost is only $70 per cam. So I will be ordering from them on the first and see how they do.

There not exact replica's. They are reground based off of the HKS lobe profiles.

Yes I do move to right by the exhaust so you hear it better. Don't even bother if you just have dinky laptop/desktop speakers. You need something that actually has bass to really get an idea of how this sounds.. And yes I was also testing my remote start on my alarm..

Huh, did anyone take a look at the cam card specs and compare them to the HKS? If they are similar I really might pick these up I was either going to go really cheap on the cams I.E. DKS like you had in mind or expensive like the Kelfords, they are really nice. By the way, you have one of the cleanest 2gs and it has always been one of my favorites, love the wheels.

Car sounds good! Did you have to install shims?

I spoke with Delta awhile back and that was the route I was going to go but I got a good deal on a used set of HKS

Wow. I forget how much more lopey hks 272s, and regrinds based on them, are than my fp2x cams. Sounds tough. You have double checked your cam timing right?

I just had a chance to really listen to the vid with headphones.
What's the idle rpm? It sounded low, raising it should reduce the lumpyness in the idle. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

Did you degree them at all? I mean, I know there regrinds, so tech. they don't need to be degree'd in, but did you change anything or install them straight up?

I just ordered my set from them. Talked to Ken on the phone. Awesome guy, know what he was talking about. I sent 3 core sets back in and got my 272's for $178.60 shipped. I live in PA, on the opposite side of the country so $178 shipped was an awesome price!

Any chance you can help identify the cams I have? They have the 'J' stamped at one end, like deltas, and they also have a '24' stamped into them. Do your deltas have a 24 stamped in them?
