Im gana finally install my big16g turbo in my car, its totally stock, is there anything I should be aware of before I begin? I got the 2g install kit from dsmparts, so I think I'm ready to go....

thanks

Make sure you use new turbo bolts, also it was easier to use the 2g coolant lines then the ones on the kit.

Make sure you use a lot of pb blaster on the turbo bolts and basically on any bolts you are taking off. Also make sure you prime the turbo before you actually start the car. Everything else is pretty much straight forward. I did a 14b on a 2nd gen not to long ago and it was my first time changing out a turbo, it only took like 5 hours with basically no roblems. Good luck

Do your self a favor and remove the rad its just gets shit out of the way and make everything 10X easier to work with..

Couldnt agree more! And soak the hell out of ever bolt you can find with pb blaster. Let it sit for 10 min and soak it again. This will make your life way easier!

A few things...

Those TC install kits sucks so you'd be better off re-using your oil return line by opening up the holes where it bolts to the turbo. Also, the J pipe is for a side mount style IC. If you have a side to side FMIC it won't work.
Also, don't forget the copper washer on the blue oil feed fitting that screws into the turbo, otherwise you'll leak.
+1 on soaking all bolts for a couple days. It wouldn't hurt to take a torch to heat up those old stubborn bolts before trying to crack them loose. Use anti-seize on the new turbo bolts and o2 housing bolts at a minimum.

Good luck and take your time. I hope the turbo has been ported.

make sure u use pb blaster... it helps like u coulnt even belive.. its preaty much the same setup as the t25 just a lil bigger.. if you have a fmic it will be a lil harder. the j pipe that comes with the kit is for the smic...

wish you luck

The FMIC j pipe sucks too if you have a Greddy front mount. The intercooler pipes on the same side really make for a tight fit around the radiator fan...
Just from my personal experience.

Be careful and don't over tighten the oil line into the oil filter housing... mine was over tightened and it cracked. Nasty oil leak. Good luck with your install. Its a small turbo... but a definite powerhouse for what it is. Definitely a fun light to light turbo... but if you want good top end... you need to go bigger. The 16g is a very dependable turbo and almost bullet proof. I ran 22 psi on mine for a year and a half until I put the Frankenstein 5 on my car. Loved my 16g and it was still like brand new when I took it off the car.

Yea.. Make Sure Its Not The Ebay Special!!!!

But If It Is.. Dont Use There Oil Lines.. And Deff Dont Use There Coolant Lines... Will Break Easly... And Dont Use The Bolts They Gave U ... Use Heated Bolts

Does your kit comes with the 1g style oil feed lines or the 2g style oil feed lines?

If you get the 1g style then thread the bolt in the head, first. Do not attempt to do the turbo first and then the head. The threads in the head are aluminum and cross thread VERY Easily. Which will result in a VERY costly repair bill (either a machine shop needs to put in a helicoil or you can do it if you know how or you need to buy another head). The threads in the turbo are iron and the threads on the banjo bolt are brass. The Iron threads will not strip, if you strip the brass bolt, it's a >$5 replacement.
