Hello to everbody in this forum. I'm new to all of this so from time to time I may ask a foolish question or two so bear with me. I just recently purchased a 1991 Talon TSi Turbo FWD for $7,600.00 Canadian and the Car was in MINT condition, never winter driven, always stored indoors, 100,000 kms., one owner (A Doctor) who always did the regular maintenance and anything else that needed to be done, and always a couple of good coats of Mother's Wax on her. She is in Pristine condition on the inside as well as under the hood, Pictures will follow soon so you can see for youself. What do you think? Also, I plan on doing some modifications, nothing outrageous but enough to put her around 250 HP. I'm thinking a mechanical boost gauge mounted on a single A Pillar Pod, a K & N High FLow Air Filter System to replace the whole stock can filter that is there now, and a new blow-off valve...Does this sound reasonable? That would do it for mods under the hood for now. The rest would be looks items like 17" Sniper Rims, and a neon purple ground effect kit.

Let's here those comments...I'm new to this stuff so all advise and help would be appreciated. ;)
 
I just bought my dsm last month and I love it. I bought a 1G GSX. Needs some work but that was expected. Just be on the look out for hack jobs. Some things arnt to bad but some can be costly. Good Luck and have fun with it if you get one.
 
I got mine from car max. I got the option to put a warrenty on a used car. Trust me with a DSM you will need it. In the first year I had about 9000 dollers worth of work done. I have a spyder. I had my top replaced within the first 2 weeks of having the car. I had the rear widow motor replaced. I had all four motor mount replaced. I had idle motor replaced. I have since rebuilt the transmission put two clutches in. (one got screwed when the trans went) And mine is still stock. You Mod it and you are asking for trouble. ask anyone these are a pain but when they work they are the best car.:dsm::talon:
 
Look if your going to buy a cheep one your going to have to do alot of work to get it running great. So go spend 8k on one on sell here an save you alot of headaches. I got mine for 3k last year an Ive put 2k in a audio system an 13k into the engine an mods so far. an i still got another 4k to go on the paint suspension an trims an tires to go. The cars on here that are 8 -11k are built like mine. So take the easy route. If i known buy buying this one i was going to spend that much on it in a year i would of got one already done. As for buying a car from a non dsmer you dont know what ## getting. The biggest thing that was wrong with mine was that the engine. Crankwalk does it every time.
 
I'm new to the dsm scene, I just got me a steal on a 97 gst because the guy thought it was a rod knocking, and sold it to me for 900. Turns out its either one of my rocker arms or lifters knocking. So, after I have her running again I'm wanting to put on some exhaust. Should I go with Evo2 turbo back? Or whats the best sounding exhaust, or the best on performance so I can squeeze out an extra 15 or so horses. Any tips on headers?

I got an Evo II and it is quiet as hell....i'm no fan of annoying ricers but i wish it were louder when i rev it up.
 
Ok, thanks. I want something loud, but not, hey look, one more ricer screaming down the road. I had magnaflow on my toyota and it was pretty descent sounding, but it popped like crazy. Thanks for the heads up. I might try apexi. I'm open for ideas!
