I just bought my second spyder gst but it had a blown turbo. The guy included an evo8 16g that he bought but said he couldn't get it installed without some sort of fabrication...I'm still tearing everything apart before trying to install a turbo. I warped some valves on my previous spyder so I can pull the turbo from it if necessary but am trying to figure out if I should go ahead and install the evo8? I saw something about boost creep and I don't kno what that is yet but I intend to find out because it doesn't sound very friendly to my car! I have plans for some mods, but nothing huge...fmic, new boost gauge, I've got a walbro 255 in my other car that's never seen fuel, maybe a fpr, not sure about what I'll do with the exhaust yet, I'll probably end up getting an mbc too and redoing the intake that's already on here along with the 1g bov and hard piping I need to install. I've got all these things mapped out in order of installation and what needs to be first, along with doing all the routine checks and maintenance before I ever fire it, just in case!! I had a bad experience with my last one because I didn't know what I know now and it cost me a couple grand! I want the car to be a work car (back and forth about 6-8 miles) as well as a lil play toy. I think I've read that the t25 is better than the 14b's but since I've already got the 16g I figured why not, right? But if I put the 16g on, I was afraid also that I may lose my low end spool/boost without more supporting mods vs the 14b or t25.

Ok, my fault...I had the t25 and 14b's backwards. Also, how do I know that it's a true evo8 16g and not a cheap ass eBay?

Lol yea I was just posting that...it's a td05hr-16g6-9.8t but that's in a 7 also. Does that matter and how do I know it's actually from an evo and not an eBay special?

For the evo 8 turbo your going to need a custom manifoldmade to work with the turbo and custom oil lines the turbo is turned the opposite of how our turbos are and with the money you will spend doing that you could buy a bigger/better turbo that will bolt up[DOUBLEPOST=1410123994][/DOUBLEPOST]I even just thaught about where the hell is your exhaust gonna go and you have to relocate the alt. Not qorth it sell it someone will buy it and get a 50 trim or something similar

I'm gonna post a few pics of the stuff that I got with the car for the turbo...this one first coz I've gotta resize them all. I think there's 4 or 5 but I wanna make sure they post and they're visible.[DOUBLEPOST=1410130452][/DOUBLEPOST]Here's the rest of the pics...there's the turbo, engine bay, headers(?), another piece that bolts on and two plates that look like oversized washers LOL. We held everything togethEr last night and held it in place and it looked like the only problem would be getting an extremely short piece of pipe at 90° angle to bolt onto turbo from intercooler....now I may very well b wing, it did happen once before LOL so Lmk if I'm right/wrong please. Thanks.

The eBay knock offs are usually of the evo iii style 16g not the evo viii. That looks like a real evo viii in your pics but, its not going to be bolt on like an evo iii.

Well the only thing (other than the lines, we didn't check if the lines were the same) we noticed that I would need is an elbow from lower ic pipe to turbo. Installation aside, what about performance wise....would it not take more from a stock motor for the turbo to spool than with the t25?

So where do you plan on relocating your power steering pump to? These evo 8 style turbo's are rather worthless on these cars. I would sell it and get a 14b or evoIII 16g. This could all of been found out with a simple search.

Hadn't planned on relocating anything at the moment, just checking to c if this turbo will fit and what is involved and if it would b ok w/o changing the amount of fuel going in...

Well you are at very least going to have to relocate the ps pump, it will be in the way. You will also possibly have to relocate the alternator, move the maf, and intake pipe to the driver side of the engine bay.

Maybe it was because I searched 16g instead of evo 8, but that's not the point

What is the point than. You have a question that has been answered 20 times, it's been covered. It will require a decent amount of work to use. And yes you will need to upgrade the fuel system to use that turbo.

It confuses me coz when I hold everything up to the motor, it's almost in the same place as the stock turbo...

it spins oposite way the turbo wont work without spending alot of cash there is no way it sits alost same location with ut bolted to that manifold its not even close we wouldnt lie to you that its not gonna work

Power steering would have to be moved because where do you plan to put your maf and airfilter the compressor side of the turbo is turned 180 of a dsm turbo

If ur heart is truly set on using it your gonna need a way to tune a wideband boost gauge custom fabbed exhaust custom fabbed header or do sd or gm maf to eliminate intake snorkel possibly a half rad so you can fit it without interfearing with other parts after the header is made and im forgetting stuff im sure

I know none of you guys would lie, and from what you're all saying I definitely want something else because I don't want to relocate everything for this to work plus all of the tuning. I really don't want to get into all the flashing ecu's, programming, etc, my plans are to stay below that if possible. Thanks to all of you and Bryan, I'll try to conduct a more thorough search next time...sorry, but thanks the same!

No problem were all here to help but anything above stock you will need to tune for the most part few minor things can be done without a tune such as a fmic and a exhaust but not much more just invest in a safc if you dont plan on going crazy im going for 300whp in my 2g and ive spent around 500-600$ and i have all that i will need to get me there so it can be done cheap but safe all my parts came from this site from other users just be on the lookout

Yea, I figured max I may hit 300 but I doubt it...I have another 4g63t w a t25 turbo which I will install since the evo 8 is so much work but I thought about getting a 14b instead. Just depends on funds and what I can find on here.

Find a blown evo 3 16g i can rebuild it for you cheap if you want ill tell you what i did for my 300whp goal on my 2g
Safc
Evo560s
Maf adapter and aircleaner
-6 fuel filter to rail
Evo 3 16g
3" exhaust
Aem wideband
Boostgauge
Walbro 190lph
Greddy fmic
1g bov

This will get me 300whp on 93oct pump gas or at least very close
