OK here is the deal, bought the car, did some minor upgrades, noticed the clutch beginning to slip, replaced the clutch, about 8000 miles later, clutch starting to slip again after some major mods. ACT 2100 series clutch, just figured it was not beefy enough. In the process of taking tranny out to put another clutch/flywheel, noticed hypoid coming down around the fork boot and the "dust shield by the flywheel. Was told that it was the rear main seal, so I finished taking off the tranny and bought a new rear main seal. After taking everything thing off, come to find out it is not @ all the rear main seal, I mean not a drop of oil around there.

After closer inspection come to find out it is the seal located in the Input Shaft Bearing Assembly, appearently as you will read in the tech manual, this seal cannot be replaced by itself, the hole assembly needs replaced.

How do you remove that assembly?????? I guess the dealer would be the only people to order the assembly from right?????

Ive never been into a FWD tranny before but I just replaced my seal on my input shaft in my AWD one. Its actually pretty straight forward. I had to take the whole thing apart and pull the gear sets out. At first I had trouble figuring out how the seal came out but once I cleaned it all up I could see. I just popped it out with a screwdriver and put the new one in. Thought I cant say if this helps you considering they are different. But I wouldnt imagine you having to replace everything just for the seal. And yes, you get them from the dealer, my seals were $8 and $12.

If you saw Hypoid, why did you think rear main? I'm confused.
