Also, alot of those cars are lowered to the brim for the shoots you see them in. I know when I had a buddy do a photoshoot of my talon, that was one of the first things he asked, can we lower it more? But I insisted that it looked perfect the way it was. So I didnt go for the slam look for the photoshoot.

hello,
i just joined the forum and the first thing i put in the "search" was "slammed" haha and i found this thread but i Love stanced vehicles!

here are my vehicles the jetta is now sold. i was stuck in the pic
my other car is my 06 sti with just wheels so far....rota grids 18x9.5 20mm offset im getting coilovers so it'll be lower with some camber. they poke and i rub bad so i need to do some fender work...

and my other car is an 06 gti bagged with 2 piece j-lines i forget the specs haha..

i was wondering if there are any slammed DSM-ers?

and yes i own a talon tsi awd.. and i put the sti wheels on it and it looked wicked sick but the hubs are wicked huge on these talons...
i'll post pics of the talon when its "picture worthy"

You can buy sheets of ABS plastic and cut them to fit any shape you want to form a diffuser on the front of any car.
You see this done alot on autox or time attack cars.

Yeahh I miss that carr, just cause how it looks other wise it was a POS and i hated it cause it didn't stop braking . I like the lip too but, I want functionality for track purposes

First it was almost stock clean cars in the 90s before the body kits hit the scene and rare real aero was almost imposable to get

Then it was 17-19 inch rims and body kits

After the body kits came around it was front even and tail light conversions, under glows, crazy paint,and cotton balls stuffed in wheel wells


JDM mad tight yo came around with small rims and panda look and more function over style


Now its stanced out shit offset rims that make the car slow and perform worse, cute little thread titles along with hipster styling of the interior and calling everyone haters now.....

To be cool these days you a wire tuck with a goofy painted engine bay, ebay coil overs slammed to the max. But because there powered coated and full bodied there dope status and drifters use them so they have to be good.

Custom rims that cost more than your motor, funky headliner and shift boots you bought from your grandmas fabric store. Very fancy and shiny window stickers with catchy phrases from the internet, and parking in Starbucks parking lots rather than taking it to the drag stripe.

Proper wheel fitment has always been in style for years! But it has always been done correctly for performance


Corvettes,Rx7s,supras,vipers have for years nice wide wheels with nice sized lips

There was never a name for it because thats what you would do! You need a nice wide wheel with a wide tire to put down the power.


Now the kids are tacky as hell and do all this ### shit for fashion

Yes I can claim it started in Northern California and I was there from the beginning of it all. I have no problem being lumped in with the true HellaFlush guys because they are in my opinion some of the most attractive cars on the road. Most of us race and drive our cars and they aren't trailer queens or garage queens. We take great care of our cars and expense is never an issue, we have the best of every thing available and many of us such as myself have pioneered parts for our specific vehicles. The suspension, a lot of the CF parts and many other items on my car were created specifically for me and now its available for everyone. List goes on and on.

I can't worry about others peoples ignorance. The same applies for being called a "DSMer" Out side of these forums being called a "DSMer is usually a negative connotation. Our reputation for the type of people we are and cars we drive aren't very flattering but am I gunna let that affect me? Just because some ignorant asshole has an opinion on something he knows nothing about, I can't live like that .

I allow my RX8 and my other flush cars I have built to be called HellaFlush because it is. I run 17x10" wheels with sticky NT01 DOT track slicks, stitch welded frame, AP roll bar, AutoExe full under-body carriage bracing, progress-tech front and rear racing sways and AP racing end links. Tubular K member, imported and rebarreled HK$ HiperMax (yes its spelled that way) coilovers, JIC 6pt front strut bars, 4pt rear bars, 3pt floor bars and 2 pt trunk bars. MM turbo kit, BHR ignition/cooling system, HKS Titanium single exit and a sh*t load of one off REAL carbon fiber pieces made for the car... And I'm purposely not listing crap because the list is too long..

I laughed, hard, when people dared talk to me about how HellaFlush cars don't perform. ALL of us have HEAVILY modded cars and from a performance standpoint would out shine 90% of the cars on this board. Just because we like our cars to look good and attract attention people assume that we neglect performance. What DSMers need to realize is you can have BOTH.

I get where you're comin from and yes a few bad apples can spoil the barrel but that goes with anyone else. We are actually excepted on sites like Supra forums, Evos, STis, sites where owners tend to have more money, or nicer cars to begin with, the mentality of DSMes in general is normally "budget" so they tend to hate what they can't do or have convinced themselves they don't like for whatever reason. I really can't put my finger on it and can't think of a reason to try. I don't think the crowd will ever change as it seems it is getting worse but to each their own.
