How far can a 1g MAS take you?

I am planning a budget build up of my 1g and am wondering how much power a 1g MAS can handle before it starts becoming a problem.

I dont know the limits of a 1gen maf, but consider doing a GM maf swap u can mount it after your turbo or bov for a push through setup. its alot let restrictive. you can get a GM maf sensor almost at any junkyard and buy a translator for it for about $200

Well you can always go with the 2g maf and 550cc injectors and a 190 rewired fuel pump for cheap, which is a good setup for a budget build. No other fuel managment should be needed.

I have reached the limits of a 1G maf. It starts to skip hertz numbers overruns at about 300 horsepower or 2000 hertz.

That is quite impressive. I actually didn't know that - I always thought it was more around 375-400hp.

But to comment on the original post, yes, the stock 1g MAF will overrun rather quickly. Depending on how much hp you're looking to make, either a 2g or a GM MAF/MAF-T will become a necessity fairly quickly. Considering how quickly a 1g AWD will start making 300+ hp, I'd say an upgraded MAF should be pretty high on the list of required supporting mods, after you're finished upgrading the fuel system components.

I know of people running a 2g with eprom that are pushing very close to 500 hp, if not 500. Another option is a 3g mas, which flows within 1% of an Evo mas.
