Ha, try changing a oil pan gasket in a mid 90's t-bird with a v8. You have to lift the engine up high enough so the oil pan can drop down on the cross member (welded in) for clearance. If you plan on taking the oil pan off or changing the pick up tube/strainer, plan on pulling the engine.

Did you keep track of the 2 short bolts? :sneaky:

Hey guys, do your awd swaps and custom manifold builds, BUT DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CHANGE AN OIL PAN AND RETURN LINE ON YOUR OWN! It will be way to hard for you feeble minded idiots.

I guess it does depend on the person doing it, done it and wasn't too bad in my opinion... Only thing I didn't like was being on my back doing it and dropping the T case, but I'm used to it since I weld in screwed off positions. To me its all on who's doing it and if they are capable of doing it in the first place.

Yea not to mention trying to hold the transfer case up there and put the bolts back in it by your self. Darn transfer cases weigh a ton. i also dropped the support down there just to make it extra easy to take out.

+1

I can drop my down pipe, disconnect oil line and drop pan it probably and put it all back together in a hour with my eyes closed. If this guy shouldn't own a DSM

:( I own a DSM and I hate doing my own work haha. I rather have someone else do it while I'm out enjoying the day.

Most of us enjoy our day by working on our cars. You will never appreciate your car when all you do is swipe your credit card anytime something is wrong with it, or anytime to want to modify it. You appreciate it when you put the blood and sweat into making it what you want

I understand but I tried doing my own work once and it took longer than expected. I have too much going on to worry about it when I can pay someone else to do it for me :)

Doing the oil pan was not bad, the pain is to get it off with out bending it but other then that its a nice job to do,

It's a cake job...pulling the drivers side axle makes it alot easier...but it can be done with out taking it out. But Honestly pull that axle...youll have the pan in and out in an hour.

Hope you didn't use a cork gasket...cause you'll be doing it again.

Dude no joke stay away from them oil changes. It's as bad as changing spark plugs and putting gas in a car.
