i took out my pistons and connecting rods a few days ago and i got around to removing the rings today, LOOK AT THE GAPS ON THESE BABY'S!!!!!

to put it in perspective, the largest gap on one of my rings is a little more than a half inch big!

put rings in cylinder then measure gap and get back to us

you could have stretch them a bit when takeing them off the piston

there is much more i can say but i think the guys who know how to measure gap already know what i need not to say

anybody got a 1/2inch feeler gauge

Yeah, you definitely have to measuer ring end gap with them in the cylinder. :laugh:

i didnt need to stretch them, they fell off when i turned the piston upside down. all the cylinders are tapered .009" and the oil control rings were so caked in with carbon i had to pry them out with a needle

but if ya want me to be specific, the compression rings had a gap of .55" and the oil control rings are gapless

If anything, it'd just mean those will be easier to install with less threat of breakage.
