Just thought I would make a post. I JUST finished up my 2.4 stroker build.

The engine is G4CS, 2.4 crank, Eagle Rods, Wiseco .020 over 8.8:1 pistons, 1200cc injectors. BC 280 Cams, Ported polished head w/ valve job,on PUMP w/ Meth etc etc etc.

Turbo is HX40 pro in the BEP .70 AR housing and the ERL manifold.

Currently I have only ran about 200 miles on it and they have been hard but not brutal as I'm breaking in a new clutch, and new tranny in the same process.

I am running at wastegate pressure which is 18 PSI and let me tell you this thing is lightning.

My last setup was a 2.0 w/ a PTE 6031E in an .82 AR T3 housing and it put 457 AWHP down last season.. at 35 PSI on pump w/ meth although full spool was somewhere around 5200 the turbo design is not nearly as efficient as holset.

Results of the 2.4 and the HX-40 at 18 PSI. FEEL impressive to say the least.

The turbo is full spool close to 4,000 RPM. The over all setup is so much more responsive than the 2.0 was and my plans are to at least double the boost after break in.

I would venture to say the car is just as fast as my old setup right now, and the potential is far greater...

I Just thought I would make a post so people looking for Holset w/ Stroker info that need a resource can contact me. I found alot of speculation on how the Holset would respond on a stroker, but very little when it came to people who have actually done it.

I remember how fast the car was with the 6031E; it literally felt like there was a second powerband from 7k-8k on the old 2.0 block- there was no drop in pull whatsoever. Of course that poor PTE junker couldn't give us more than 800-1200 miles of usefulness before it would shit the bed for no apparent reason- not sure if that was related to the excessive boost or some other issue, but it was one of the most unreliable turbos I've ever seen. Needless to say I'm anticipating a very interesting race season!

For anyone interested, Ricky's also currently building an AWD 2G Spyder with a 2.0 block and a HX35 with the same .70a/r T3 turbine housing. It will be quite the street machine- I'm not sure it will make many track passes being a convertible.

Awesome build, its pretty much the exact build I have going in just in an AWD spyder for next spring. Hopefully everything works out for me too. Great job, Im sure it'll be a good year Holset FTW!

Thanks for posting the pic of the engine, I haven't had a chance to upload any yet, I've been scrambling to get everything together and broken in so I can race next weekend :). All i can say is the ERL manifold is a perfect piece, Fitment is excellent in a 2g, I cant believe how much room still available with such a large setup its perfect.

to update the AWD Spyder, The chassis conversion to AWD is already complete, as well as the engine(built 2.0 eagle rods/9:0:1 wisecos) and drivetrain are installed. The ONLY holdbacks right now are getting another ERL Manifold, Another Meth kit, and hooking up the fuel pump. everything else is done.. for it to "drive". Then comes a little bondo and Paint.

I will bring it up to PRP one day this summer to see if I cant get a pass or 2 just to see how it goes.

Nice to hear your setup is working well. I am also right in the middle of putting together my HX40 Pro /stroker build. this is a picture of where i was at last night with the setup. Im still waiting on my FP manifold to get here, so the stock one is there for now.

awesome. I am looking forward to seeing the results.

As soon has this block goes, I plan to do a 2.3 setup. Hopefully I can get holset on it. This well definitely help me out as far as knowing what to expect.

Its nice to see some other members building 2.4 motors with the holset turbo. I'm building a 2.4l aluminum long rod motor to get more rpms because I have an hx-52. I hope I am as satisfied as you are! What rpm are you reving that thing to?

I was waiting for this thread to begin. I can't wait to ride in this car, Ricky!

I was waiting for some feed back from him too. Good stuff! I'm excited tot see some results after a good tune. Being happy with your build is a BIG win for the owner not a particular turbo brand. But a good turbo is a good turbo :)

sorry to hijack your thread if you want i will post up a new one but figured we are both holsets on strokers LOL in these pics the engine is wet because its raining out LOL

Congrats on getting the car up :) It's a nice feeling.
How does your airflow compare to your last set up when you made 457whp?

Congrats man. I am also in the process of a long rod G4CS/HX40 build. Can't wait to see some numbers.

Dang i didnt know there were so many guys in west virginia building dsm's now i used to live close to wheeling and there were only a few of us building these cars.Im planning also on doing the 2.4 holset setup.Have you guys ran into any fitment issues with the turbo?Im building a 95 eclipse gsx auto and havent seen too many people putting the holset on the autos. Are there any major modifications to the hot side of the holset to get it working on the cast manifolds?

the .70 ar housing would not work on an Turbonetics style cast manifold, a tubular SFP manifold or an ebay manifold... I had to cough up the 550 bucks for the ERL Cast manifold...mind you it is a work of art that manifold would not disappoint a god.

The more I read it and read success story after success story I'm going to go for it. my 2.3 will be getting a 35x. Good luck with it. I'm really looking foward to the power numbers on this.

These builds look awesome guys. Looks like a potent combo. I wanna see some dyno numbers!

I too am vaguely considering going HX40 or HE351VGT (same compressor) if I ever get my budget in order enough to complete my 2.4 build. Thanks for posting this up.

Seems like a lot of WV, PA, MD and OH guys are going with Holset equipped 2.3/2.4 builds. :applause:

We should plan a meet. Keyser's only ~90 miles from me... :sneaky:
