So it was wet out, in a best buy parking lot and no cars around at all. So i decide to do some drifting. Except i think i went a lil over board because i kept sliding until i hit a curb (LOL) I hit it straight on. No flat tires, but the right side of the car seems to be affected. When i start it up in the morning now it sounds like metal clattering together by the right side of the wheel. Also, it feels like something is rubbing when i'm going between 0-30mph. Can feel it by how the steering wheel feels (know what im saying?) Any help would be great!

Thanks
-Jason-

i got the alignment, i also just bought the new tires, i watched him balance them. It still shakes, and i am looking for answers :)

Unfortunately, I don't think you'll be able to get the answers you're looking for here. Since you've already had an alignment and new tires/wheels, I'd say take it to a mechanic and tell him what happened and have it checked out by a professional.

This would be the best route. Most shops would give a free estimate anyway, then just fix it yourself.

with your new tires and wheels did you have them balanced? you said you did. what type of tires did you get? I would got to an alignment shop and have your tires put on a force variance machine. This will be able to tell if you steel belts in the tire have been mislaid. This can cause your virbration. Its partially in relation to radial pull.
Did you say you had the wheels replaced? If not, check for wheel symmetry. If your wheel is out of whack then no matter what balancing you do, you will never have a balanced tire. How is your tire wear?

i was on my way to buy some winter steelies i had ordered. I was driving really slow because i didn't have to much grip on the snow with my summer rims on but i managed to make it there, well almost. i tried turning into the parking lot but the car kept going straight and i ended up hitting the curb. the pictures below show the damage from the curb.

Damage to my rim.

Ouch...that sucks man

I thought my car had rust problems on the suspension...mine is still black, the bolts are just rusty. I guess Canada gets more salt on their roads than Michigan.

yeah tell me about it...we get more salt on the roads than we do snow. Not really but i do notice that in the winters there are constantly salt trucks out, snow or no snow.

that sucks, i did the exact same time to my car a month ago, it was an easy fix got a used control arm for 25 bux from the junk yard. good luck!

ok i'm dumb and today in the snow i hit a curb. now my front passenger side tire's camber is off. if i broght it to a alignment shop could they fix it? i would need to buy a camber kit correct? if so i guess that fmic will be on hold :thumbdown

not gonna be that easy. you probably need a new control arm at the minimum, that is if the whole unibody isn't tweaked. how fast were you going when you hit the curb?

I just replaced the suspension on a miata for a friend. He crushed both control arms, bent the tie rod, bent the joints for the control arms, and bent his strut in 2 places. His tire got faulked up bad too, becuase the wheel stuck in one spot. I replaced it, and he went and got an alignment. It's all good :)

i wasn't going fast at all... honestly it doesn't look bad at all but i'm just worried. so can a tire shop say like just tires fix this?

take it apart, look and if there is anything bent or broke and replace that. Then have it aligned. Voila.

If you need a camber kit to correct it AFTER the accident then something is tweaked. Compare the parts to the good side of the car... whatever doesn't match, replace.

Also, don't go back to that shop. If they can't see what is bent then you don't want to give them business.

This is all assuming that your car didn't need a camber kit to begin with.

Last week I did the same thing, Unfortunately I think I tweeked the unibody, I know the control arm is FUBAR, and the steering is gone, messed up 2 new rims and I really think that the whole front suspension needs to be replaced. Nothing is straight but the body.

Go Figure,

Bad Ice.

Just like the title says. Today in portland, Or, FREEZING RAIN hit like no tommorow and the whole city was frozen, i mean cars going left and right into ditches, and ive never seen so many cars pulled over on the highway.

Well what happened was, my mom asked me to go to the store to get some bread since its AWD, but its freezing rain and street tires, dont really help so it just slides. On the way back home, as I'm turning into the street, some jacka$$ was messing w. his car and was on my side of the street. I turned left to miss him, and end up just sliding sideways into the curb :(  well, i got out to find out that the driver front tire is pushed back all the way into the fender, and when I jacked it up looked like some joints and arms got bent.

Well now I find out theres a recall on those things, a little late eh http://www.alldata.com/TSB/03/95031676.html but anyways, my dad is trying to fix it and looks like he might be able to, but thats my night

just thoughd id share my missery. I know its not the worst case like some people having their cars catch on fire, etc... but fkn sux

Im talkin 300 miles north of Detroit, the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Right off of Lake Superior. Body shops love the terrible winters, and the million deer we have up here. Its one big accident waiting to happen. I wish I had some pics of what I did to my old 1.8 DL last winter, you wouldnt feel so bad. ;)
